They'll run for as long as you can fight the rust off. And then sometimes even after the rust declares victory these things can still just keep on going. Almost like a zombie. Most Gas blocks are designed to last around 300k-400k. Its just most people get tired of looking at the same hunk of metal all the time and decide not to spend a few dollars fixing it up but instead spend a few g's so they can look at a new hunk of steel.

I'm hoping mine doesn't hit 300,000 too soon. It has 156,000 on it and runs like a top except for the usual, slightly rough idle they all get with some miles. Many do anyway. Doesn't burn a drop of oil and runs like new. I feel like I have a "newborn" considering the mileage some of these 2.7's rack up. The only thing done to this truck so far is a water pump and battery under warranty along with a brake job when my dad owned it. I replaced all the suspension with OME and Deaver leaf's in the rear. Other than that, nothing but routine maintenance. I am replacing the tie rods this summer because one of them has a VERY slight amount of play in it. I already have the inners and outers from Toyota. I may buy a new rack for the future so it is sitting here when I need it. This truck has been babied it's entire life but it has been used in very mild off road condition's quite a bit. Most of the time anyway. I did thrash it just to see where it would go when I first got it back at 119,000 miles. I was actually quite amazed even with Michelin M/S 2's it goes almost anywhere. If it's dry. It'll get new tires at the end of this summer more suited to snow and ice along with mud. Eventhough the M/S 2's won't quite be worn out yet. If I lived down south I'd run the M/S 2's until they were almost bald. They are the best for the average daily driver/SUV where it doesn't snow and you don't drive around in deep "clay" mud.

At about 164,000 i stated to hear the a/c compressor bearing start to whine. Wonder how long it'll be before it freezes up. I also just changed my tranny fluid and filter and noticed the fronts leaking gear oil from some where. But this things also been beat since I owned it. Then sat around while my brother had it. Now I beat it again.

This makes me feel good. I just passed 115k miles on my 2010 5-speed. Any major repairs for you between 115-215k? (assuming you've had it that whole time)

It was my dads from new until 150k when i got it. Besides a new wheel bearing at 150k, a clutch at 200k (which wasnt even slipping, i just wanted peace of mind in case i ever took it on a long road trip), and a starter that was going out at 175k, its been smooth sailing since i got it. I also replaced the alternator at 175k at the same time as the starter even though it wasnt bad as a means of preventative maintenance (and since a bad alternator left me stranded once in an FJ at 161k). I actually just rolled over 222,222 a few days ago and its running better than ever.

Certainly sounds like smooth sailing. I just replaced the drivers side hub and bearing 2 weeks ago. It was damaged when I ran off the road over the winter in 2wd.... stupid move. Should have been in 4x4. Sweet looking truck man. Nice catch on the 222222. Im hoping that Ill be paying attention when 123456 comes around in about a year.

Thanks man! Its been a great truck for sure! Id hang onto yours, itll last a long time, especially with the proper maintenance and care. These 2TR's are really a bullet proof motor, i work mine like a dog since ive got about 6-700lbs of constant weigh on it and besides being slow, it doesnt seem to phase it. You made a great choice when going with a 5spd! I wouldnt own a 4 banger with an auto

Yeah man, I've heard bad things about the 2.7 autos. Unable to maintain speed/downshifting etc. especially while towing I also have around 500 lbs of constant weight (Cap, basic platform, everything under it (mostly tools and recovery), 60'' hi lift, and other miscellaneous gear. As I've heard other people say, "it does everything that I ask of it, only slower". 5-speed all day! :spy: I am managing get 21+ mpg with 50/50 driving with a 2'' lift and 32'' AT tires.
    Cheers! :proposetoast:

edit: oil filter could be in a better spot :p
