115,300 when I changed it. The previous owner apparently just bought it, then drove it. I don't think he believed in preventive maintenance of any sort. See photos...

These were taken when I went in to change the timing belt/water pump/all idler pulleys/hydraulic tensioner/belts/hoses--the WORKS! If you wanna see the "after" photos lemme know...

Nice! Your waterpump had obviously been leaking for a while. That is what all that pinkish/whitish buildup is from.

Looks like you got it just in time.

Changed mine this summer at 109K miles. The water pump was leaking mildly, which was the motivation to do it.

40k on the belt, it will get changed soon as it has 72 months on it . Everything was done the first time at 60k and 48 months, everything means all new OEM Toyota parts right down to thermostat and coolant .

Just replaced the belt, pump, and all other parts that came with the kit, as well as all of the other belts over the weekend. After 160K miles I also had a nice buildup from coolant leaking over time.

    THIS!!!!!

And I must remind some of you guys - Just because you think it 'LOOKS OK" on the outside, doesn't mean anything at all. A timing belt can look totally NEW on the outside when you remove it at 90K (or whatever).

I work with these types of belts all the time where I work. I see them break often and I have to replace them. The stands and whatever material that's underneath the rubber gets stretched & pulled - and that's where the problems occur. I've seen these belts break in various ways....but mostly from strands coming apart and/or the teeth pulling off the strands. Even if it doesn't break, you could lose a tooth (or teeth) and cause all sorts of timing issues.

It's safety insurance to change it when its recommended!

I'm at 193k and I am an easy footed driver. I've spoken with several of my buds who've replaced theirs earlier and much later and they have all told me their belt looked good enough to throw behind the rear seat for a spare. Don't get me wrong every time I leave the driveway I wonder if it's gonna be the day it leaves me stranded. It's the first thing I'm gonna buy when I get my tax return money, If it lasts that long.

I replaced my original belt, pulleys, waterpump, etc. at 290,000 miles. The original parts looked almost new when I took them off. Had no waterpump leaks or frozen pulleys.

The only reason I changed the parts was after I got paranoid about reading on here that everyone was changing theirs at about 100K or so.

Got the parts from "aircabinman" on ebay for about $300.

Can someone please explain the RED letters? Sorry not sure what they refer to. I have a 2002 Auto V6 3.4L 4x4 with a TRD supercharger and I've been thinking about doing this. Also, can someone please link to a good KIT on ebay that includes everything I would need. i.e. belts, pullys, pump etc THANKS!!!

I thought the 4 bangers were chains and the v6s were belts?

    Never looked on my 2rz.

Around $26,000 worth of unleaded in the fuel tank.
One of my timing belts had 150,000mi. when swapped, and had some threads hanging out of one edge. The rubber was shiny and starting to crack. Who knows how much longer it would have lasted. The water pump and pulleys were fine though. There was an improvement in power after the swap, so the old belt was stretched quite a bit.

The water pump life has to do with the condition of the coolant because it lubricates the water pump.
