Previous owner took it in every month he had it (around 45-50 times) for a full service, like flushing all the fluids and replacing filters, so after my two and a half years of owning it I've only had a turn signal go out (after I touched it with my bare hands multiple times)

that's steep for the year, but a helluva a lot of Truck with very little miles. Clearly somebody was spending money on it, check to see they did things right underneath.

    I'm at 66,700
    bought it at 28,700 21 months ago for $19k. 4.0 4x4

1800 miles a month average and it hasn't ever done anything but work 100% perfectly. I'd like better mileage, but I'm ok with it. 12-15 Tacoma's will go down as benchmark trucks. Nothin fancy. Solid. Reward a responsible owner for as long as you need it to. Last of the simple combustion era 'Trucks'. 3rd Gens are trying be something the breed isn't - luxury rock crawler for soccer moms. Just read that again and you can see where the problems start. And next is Electric.

for the record, I'm wrong a lot.

    Same crap everyone else got
For reference, that's more than my asking price was for my 2015 double cab 4x4 trd off road w/26k when I bought it in Sept 2018. This was also a GA truck so no rust. With it being even older now and with more miles I'd expect to pay even less now.

Anyway. If shortbed is ok look for a 2014-15 offroad with low miles. You can get something in the 25k range. Also I think the standard shift are coming harder to come by and will have a better resale.

OP....I like that truck your looking at, but the $31k sticker is shocking to me
Try to work them down to $27-28k
    That's more reasonable

& OP- are you paying cash or financing?
If cash, they will not wiggle on the price
But if you finance some or all, they may negotiate on the price

My 2013 just hit 150,000mi! No major repairs so far. Changed the water pump as preventative maintenance, but found it was actually leaking. 1GR-FE water pumps are notorious for going out around 100,000 miles. This is the second Toyota I've owned with the 1GR-FE and both had pump failures at or around 100,000mi. I travel pretty far to work so I didn't want to risk it leaking. I did the repair myself, it was under $200 including coolant. I don't consider that a major repair, as water pumps are pretty much wear items in every vehicle now days. Did the drive belt at the same time as the water pump. First set of brakes at 100,000mi. I do all repairs and maintenance myself and use OEM parts. I used to work at a dealership, so I still have connections for discount parts.

    - Oil Changes every 5,000mi
    - Diff Fluid Change every 50,000 - 60,000mi
    - Trans Fluid Changes every 50,000 - 60,000mi
    - Brake Fluid Flush Every 100,000mi
