I'm really not baffled...I use that expression as a form of disappointment in some human beings.

Of course ALL of us make our own choices in life. Joining a forum/sharing information about the decision to buy a Tacoma and what we do surrounding the brand can be treacherous without experience.

Yes, it's great when people/members have positive things to say or at least constructive criticism...but it shouldn't be compared as a goal of acceptance; it's good human interaction.

Ask the guy who was called "old" and then got a reply about going off-topic.

I'm going to go back to talking about the topic. It's been great removing the Air Dam on my Sport. It was cumbersome looking and the TRD Skid would not allow re-install so happy about that. I have not noticed a change in fuel economy depletion at all.

I'll likely leave my off after doing my first oil change. I can see pulling that spoiler off every time will be a pita to get at the engine skid plate front bolts...let alone putting the plate back on afterwards. I remember it when i did my rust coating job having to pull the chin spoiler to take the skid plate off.

That should make an oil change easier.

    This is so true!

My first oil change was at the dealership...my mistake, I know...and the kid who did the oil change did not line up one of the Air Dam bolts correctly and tighten it at an angle--totally messed up the threads!

He also over-torques the thin metal skid plate...which I removed when I installed my TRD Skid plate.

Not using any of those threaded spots anymore!

That’s the first thing I did on both my 21 and 22 Tacomas. I can’t stand the way they look

I was lucky, toyota recommended me to a local dealer 25 miles from me that did 2 toyota care oil changes. Both done in 1/2 hr or less without messing up anything. Still, i plan to do my own oil changes as i done for most everything else owned....in a weird way at nearly 70, its kind of relaxing for me.

The removal is very basic and doesn’t require anything technical. It’s pretty much all within reach on the lower front of the truck. Just get a drop cloth etc and lay on your back with a drill/phillips head and socket adapter and it’s pretty straight forward from there. It gives you a more opened up/ unrestricted/ taller look to the front of your truck

I just replaced the front bumper with body armor. This thread has inspired me to figure out how to reinstall the air dam.

I have done a couple oil changes on my truck and never removed the air dam. Why are you removing it? The stock Off-Road skid plate I did remove.

He said he had the oil change done at the dealer. But to your point.. the air dam doesn't have to be removed to simply change the oil.

I don't want a taller look! The taller it is the more unstable it looks.

I didn't remove it...the young Toyota service tech who did my oil change did.

It wasn't until the weekend I checked under the truck and discovered this:

And the bolts from the tin skid plate:

Nope. About 80% freeway at 75-80 mph. Relatively flat for the most part. Clear day.
Since then, 23 making same trip a couple days later and then I got 28 coming home with a little bit of a tail wind.

I’m stock tires and no lift though.

That’s not something being stock that you would need to worry about unless you’re going on a 6”+ lift though. That flap isn’t enough to make that kind of difference
