Funny tidbit about that photo from Home Alone. The director felt bad about putting a young girl in the photo since it was supposed to be a joke about how unattractive Butche's girlfriend was. So that's actually a photo of his son in a wig.

 

Living 2 miles off a crappy dirt road hasn't had any effect on whether the spoiler is on my truck or not. I even plowed through fresh 3' deep snowbanks with it on, and its still there. I wouldn't try it on a frozen one though. Fact...removing it definitely causes more wind noise, and a minor loss in fuel economy when driven at highway speeds.

 

Took mine off immediately, no regrets!

I have two theories on that.

1, the highway milage standard is an averaged run at a surprisingly low 50mph. The air dam doesn't do squat at that speed, but it will surprisingly help lower their average when it comes to emissions testing. (Which is why they put it on. Fuck milage, it's all about meeting gov emissions regs)

2, they probably only submitted one model for testing then published the figures for all trims.

I added one to my OR...gasp I save a gallon every tank of gas. I did a lot of before and after testing to verify the savings.I plan to off rroad later this year, ill take it off, but for every day driving it helps save a little. I don't even know its there...I save enough in a year for a nice dinner and a movie and an oil change

 

A friend asked me about taking his off, I recommended it for better looks. I talked to him a week later when I saw the dam still on and he told me the wife said no, I didn't say anything.

Yep, his wife said Toyota put it on for a reason and told him not to take it off. I wanted to say something but let it go.

 

Poor bastard. Probably ripped the tag off a mattress once and never heard the end of it.

 

Rookie mistake asking the wife permission in the first place.
