Of course you want to learn as much as you can to build a large knowledge base, however the NCLEX is seen as daunting to some. It causes anxiety and may even discourage prospective nurses if they don't pass the first time. Most of what you need to know to be a nurse will be taught and learned on the job when precepting with other experienced nurses anyway. The statement was more of an encouragement to get through nursing school.

First shift back to work since 5/8. Had a busy 9 days off with a new baby at home. ER was nothing less than a Shit show for the first half of my midnight shift.

honestly that's about what happened...... splinted, Norco, and he'll have to see orthopedics tomorrow. That break is going to require surgery probably.

Just finished my mental health class in nursing school and I did my clinical at a South Carolina state institution and pretty much all those patients came from the ER in some capacity. Gotta love the "community safety net" aka making the ED deal with stuff nobody else wants to lol

Yup! except in my county, there's one facility with like 20 beds.....that means we have to house people in the ER until we find a place for them.....

I'm really leaning towards the ED trauma route . Which I know for what ever reason closes a lot of doors for me. The USAF seems to think ICU nurses are God's Nd er nurses are disorganized scum. Not sure why

It's probably true...All I care is that the patient is alive when they leave my department! Skin? I didn't look at the skin, who cares if the wires are tangled! That being said, go to CT with a patient on the monitor and one drip going, things get tangled up. I can't imagine when the unit goes with 50,000 drips and lines. In the ER, it's more like...bone broke, fix bone.
