Mobil and Valvoline are almost 30$ at my local walmart now and the pennzoil and quaker are 20-22$ per 5 qrts. Is it trash oil still?

Following. I've been considering a switch from Mobil 1 to Pennzoil.

    Oil is oil is oil.

Buy the cheapest and sleep well at night.

That being said. My local walmart has Mobil 1 for $23 and mobil is running a rebate of $10 per jug, so it comes down to $13 total.

Great, another oil thread. There must be a million of them on TW in past and present threads. Oh well let’s see how many respond with the oil they like.

Here’s my response from the last oil thread -

It doesn’t make any difference what brand you use. What matters is that you use the correct weight and you change oil at regular intervals. All modern oils are top notch lubricants. No one here can offer any proof that say Pennzoil is better than Castro or GTX is better than Walmart oil and so on.
There is a difference between regular oil and synthetic but again no one can say if your engine will last longer using synthetic as opposed to non synthetic.
There are a lot of expert opinions on oil brands but none of those giving the advice are experts. Marketing and word of mouth is what influences peoples choice of oil.

I use the Pennzoil platinum synthetic and have gotten good results anytime I send oil in for analysis.

Probably true and didn't disagree. I just answered the OPs question instead of recommending something else unrelated.
