We purchased a 2015 a few weeks ago. There were several reasons we chose the 15 over the 16. The discount from the dealership and the price increase on the 16s weighed heavy. Look of the 16 is hard for me to overcome at the moment, may change with time. The grill reminds me of a Dodge Ram, inside the new dash style and the pattern on the seats aren't my taste, squiggles?? In the end Im sure they will be great trucks just going to take several years for them to grow on me. Had a 2001, took me 14 years for the 2nd gen to grow on me. Who knows maybe in 2020 Ill get a 3rd gen.

No more limited long bed available, granted I did not know this buying the 15 in March but kinda ticked me off they weren't even offering it any more. Yes a sunroof and key less entry with the push button start would be sweet but the 15 was cheaper than the 16 loaded sports/off road configurations I'd like. Also knew I was getting the same engine and drive train as the 07 with 220k I traded in.

Gotta say its a sharp looking truck as well.

A few I can think of are:
    keyless entry
    push start button
    moonroof
    dual-zone climate control
    tailgate with damper shock

All things that I can easily live without, but I'm not a reference: if it were just of me, I'd prefer to don't even have the power windows. Only one more thing that may break eventually...

Ah got ya. Yeah I am the kind of guy that is happy as long as it has cruise control... And apparently intermittent wipers, I never gave that one thought till I bought this truck and I really despise the "fast and faster" two setting wipers. The dual climate control would be nice when the lady is along, she is always colder than me.

I purchased the '15 DCSB Sport 4x4 to replace the POS Dodge Ram I was driving. The 4.O V6 has as much throttle as my Ram had, but is far superior in every other way. I wanted navigation, 4 wheel drive, superior dependability, and something slightly smaller than the full size truck, for maneuverability and ease of parking. I am over six feet tall, and have a snug, but ample and comfortable seating arrangement versus the huge, couch feeling in the Dodge. Not much better on fuel economy, but that wasn't a deciding factor for me.

Why I chose the 2015 over the 2016 is because I too will never buy a complete restyle of a vehicle.... perhaps too many bugs. I also like the 4.0 over the newer engine, just seems smoother, with more power/torque at lower rpm. The front end styling is very sexy on the 2015, the 2016 looks like a big mouth bass to me. Too much grille, and that fat lip on the front looks too shopping cart bumper ish.

I was hoping they would have revamped the cab size a bit to accommodate taller people in the rear, but that didn't happen: the cab is exactly the same size/shape as before. This may be a factor in two years when I might upgrade to the Tundra simply because of foot room.

Otherwise, I just like the overall styling better on the '15, especially the LED tail lights. Something that should have been carried over to the 16 model. Sad they regressed on some styling cues.

Like many others I bought my 15' because I didn't care for the big bass nose on the 16' and I was told by many mechanics not to buy the first year of a new style because of all the new bugs that need to be worked out. Love my 2015 wouldnt trade it for anything.

I bought the Gen 2 because I think it looks better than the Gen 3.

The seat on the 2016 sucked for me. Too short and low. I had been looking forward to buying one. Instead, traded 2014 four banger access cab 2wd for 2013 doublecab 4wd.

I bought my 15 because I didn't want a first year model, even from Toyota. I don't particularly like the appearance of the 16's but that wasn't the reason I decided to purchase a 15. I did buy sooner than I planned just to make sure I got a 15.

I just really think the gen 2's look more aggressive and less gaudy.

Its really *not* a different truck. Its a body shape update and one different engine (of two).

After my 05' Tundra started to croak at 160k miles, I bought the 15' Taco because it's tried & true

Edit: If they still made the 1st gen Tundra, I would have bought another one

I like both the second and third gen. I went with a 2012 last year because its tried and true, and it was used, making it much cheaper. It came in great shape but had a few nicks and scratches. When I add another scratch from time to time, I don't feel so bad about it. For me, it's hard to imagine buying a brand new truck. Not trying to say its wrong to buy new, just not my style.

I also fear bugs when a new engine comes out. Cheers to those who went with the 3rd gen. They seem pretty awesome.

There is a lot to be said for that. As weird as it may sound I am excited for when mine has a few dings so I stop worrying about it.

I bought a '05 Taco new cause I loved the new style at the time.. and did "little to no" maintenance on it...It finally died 10years later with 240k on it....2015 last year of the Gen 2...I thought to myself,....If i do the maintenance on this '15, I might get a 500k miles out of it...lol:)... I didnt like the look of the 2016..
