I bought my DCSB TRD OR 15 in September. Love it! I did not want an Avalon engine in my truck, I could sit and go off about all he reasons that I did not want the 16 but I will just say that I am very happy with my 15 and have 0 regrets.

I'd been 'wanting' a new truck for several years and was keeping my eye on the Tacoma news. For several years the rumors were 'this will be the year for the new Tacoma' and it never was. Early in 2015 I had to bring my wife's FJ Cruiser to the dealer for some work and asked the guys in service if they knew anything about a new Tacoma. One of them said he was pretty sure it would be revised for 2016 but he didn't have anything definitive.

Sept / Oct 2015 my '05 Frontier started having a some problems and I figured I 'needed' to get a new truck, so I did. Shortly after I did, news started coming out that there really would be a new Tacoma in 2016 and my first thought was *%$#@!!! I could only imagine all the great things I'd just missed out on, then I started seeing the 2016 (ugh) and real data about the NEW truck. Then I felt really grateful that I got my truck when I did.

To me, the 2016 is not really a 3rd Gen, its more of a 2.8. Its more of an evolution than a revolution. The 2005 compared to the 2004 was obviously a new truck. The 2016 still seems to have a lot of shared parts. Sure there's some great new features that I'd like to have but nothing I can't live without. The biggest disappointment to me was the engine / fuel economy. The 2016 seems like it'll be a good truck and the looks are .... an acquired taste at best, but I really expected more from Toyota. Barring anything unforeseen, I plan to drive this truck for at least 10 years.

I like them until I got up close to one and saw how cheaply made they are. Interior feels like it'll break just looking at it wrong... I certainly didn't see value in the increased price.

Yeah cheap materials are in both gens. I riveted a wire mount to the plastic part of the bumper on my 15 and it drew the rivet deep into the plastic and it doesn't have that "solid" feel. I'll probably end up putting bolts and nuts through the holes in the end.

Bought my 15 dcsb sport because I didn't want to spend 2 to 3 grand more. Was happy with the upgrades over my 1st gens as much as I liked them both. Saw a 16 a month later and knew I made the right choice for me.

I bought my first brand new vehicle which was a 2015 Taco because #1 I didn't want the newer crappier motor/trans and #2 the 2nd gen has proven itself to be more reliable and robust than 99.9% of vehicles on the road today!

Notice I said for the increase in cost?
    They're horribly cheap.

Not a 15, but bought a 2013 with just under 15k. I do not like the new 3rd gens. Do not like is a strong description. I could care less for the 2016

2016? The phrase is 'couldn't care less'...if you could care less, then do.

I bought a 2015 because the 2016s front end is just plain weird looking and my fj was starting to rust where it had been repaired from a accident.

You got me. Yes I meant 2016 and I could care less how the phrase is supposed to be used. You got the point.
