i Bought mine a month ago the same day the 16`s started coming in and i don't really care for the ford look they got going on, the front end and the interior looks cheap to me. To each his own on that department though its not a bad looking truck just a little too much flair for my style and of course i know my V6 wont give up on me and my truck is tested and proven to last. Besides i got a brand new one for 5K less than what i got offered 5 months ago :D

I don't mind the look of the '16 model, but I also like the 2nd Gen, it's a cleaner design IMO. I bought a '15 because I prefer to buy a vehicle at the end of it's model run, you get a proven package with (hopefully) most of the bugs worked out. There are some features I wish I had, but if I want to I can add stuff like heated mirrors.

I like this truck, I think I will be driving it for quite a while.

    All the time!!!
I went to the Toyota house today and backed my 15 Taco up next to a 16 Taco, Damn I'm proud I got mine when I did cause somebody pored a bucket of ugly all over that 16s nose, I really don't care for the sides ether, but I have to admit the tailgate is nice looking. I'm proud I got mine after I saw the first pictures of the new 16s, I would sure be sorry if I had waited! But this is like everyone else's opinion, its mine alone. Think if everyone was the same there wouldn't be a menu in a fast food joint cause there would only be one burger and they would all be the same!

I bought a 15 while I still had a choice of them just in case I didn't like the 16......Well that went south with the release of the 16 and I ponied up $6000 ($3000 of which are options my 15 did not have) and ordered the 16.

I like the tailgate and added options like dual climate, heated mirrors etc. otherwise 2nd gen FTW. Hopefully the third gen will be a little less fugly in the front end when it's time to buy a new one, but that shouldn't be for a while.

Not much on mods - Leer 180, TRD wheels, Mobtown sliders, rear hitch, helper springs on the rear
Even in the base trim - I don't mind the side profile of 2016. The fender wheel surround seem less garish than my 2015 Access Cab.

From the side a 2016 Access Cab in base trim, which means the front grill is less in your face:

My 2015 Access Cab for comparison:

I bought the 2015 over the 2016, because when the 15s are all sold, the low mileage 2nd generations will be in high demand.

I run bilsteins at 1.75 plus 1/4 toy tech top spacer on both sides with a 1" block it the back and I love the ride. Stiffer the the sluggy sr5 suspension but not to stiff. I own a farm and spend a lot of time on old dirt roads but don't do much trial. Only 2 or 3 times a year do I stretch the limits up at uwharrie. All my lift was under $400. No point to toss $2000 under something unless you plan on turning it into a trail rig. Just my opinion.

I lost a company vehicle so was in the market for a new one. I've been a Chevy man all my life. I test drove the Colorado, it was just OK. My father-in-law bought a 2014 SR5 late last year. I test drove it and liked it. I was looking for used and tough to find what I was looking for as the resale for 2013 and 14's where not far off from new 2015. A testament to the resale on the Toyota. I drove by a local Toyota dealer and found a 2015 Limited Double Cab and couldn't pass up the incredible deal. I was wanting to wait for the 2016's to come out. Like others noted, a bit concerned on the first year model changes.

My uncle bought a Colorado last year when they came out. He is as we speak working on trading it in on a new one. He says it is having problems already. To be fair he put 10,000-15,000 miles of rough Alaskan back country miles on it and 15,000 other miles but still that is a problem.

I asked him why he would get another if it is that bad in a year and he said because he has thousands of dollars of GM credit card reward points. Time for a different reward card I think.

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
If you look at 2016 Tacoma there are nothing but problems with them. Especially new engine. That 2GR is known to have oil problems (google 2gr oil leak or 2gr oil problems)
I mean heck, 2016 had first recall in first month of production.
2gen trucks have much better quality so a winner over Colorado. But 2016 Tacoma vs 2016 Colorado. I would take Colorado over it, it looks better, quality can not be any worse than leaking POS of the engine in 2016 Tacoma. (if I wanted truck that constantly leaks oil I would have bought Land Rover).
Colorado comes with rear discs, and... now you can get Diesel option too.
I would not trade my 2gen Tacoma, but if I was on the market for brand new Truck I would not buy 2016 Tacoma.
Toyota should have never closed NUMMI plant.

If I were picking between 16 v6s I would also probably go Colorado. The new drive trains have been a mess for some people. Oil pressure lights, transmission vibes etc. If I were getting a 4 cylinder I would pick the Tacoma over the Colorado. The 2TR-FE and 5 speed is awesome, I love mine. Wouldn't get one in the automatic flavor though.

I know that there is not enough data yet but so far according to "Fuelly.com", the 2016 V6 Tacoma is not doing all that great on gas mileage. It will be interesting to see what the numbers are after about 6 months. I am averaging 17.9 MPG on my 2015 after 9 fill ups.

2016 V6 data: "Based on data from 14 vehicles, 61 fuel-ups and 17,877 miles of driving, the 2016 Toyota Tacoma gets a combined Avg MPG of 18.91 with a 0.53 MPG margin of error."

2015 V6 data: "Based on data from 126 vehicles, 2,872 fuel-ups and 774,666 miles of driving, the 2015 Toyota Tacoma gets a combined Avg MPG of 17.90 with a 0.08 MPG margin of error."

Ya, forget about the newer technology, more hp, etc... Let's stick with the looks of the grill?
Which, BTW is better looking on the gen3 IMO. No surprise this thread was started by a 2015 owner.
LOL! you guys are killing me! I think a lot of you are trying to get re-assurance that buying a gen2 over a gen3 was the right decision.
    BTW....I own a gen2.

When it comes time for a new truck, I'll have no problem or insecurities buying a gen3.. LOL!

I personally leave new technology out because new technology always comes as years pass redesign or not. Look at what you could get on a 15 compared to an 05. Same truck new technology.

Sure but in the case of the new 16's, its a whole new drive train and whole new interior. I just can't believe the decisions based on the looks?
I could see basing the decision on, "I needed a truck now and I don't want/trust the first release of a new gen vehicle", etc.. But to say "Hey, I bought a 2015 because the grill is ugly on the 2016" is ridiculous. The 2016 is as good looking as any new tacoma has been. I myself would use the first reason as I would NEVER buy a new gen vehicle in the first year. I'd prefer the bugs get shaken and go for a 2017. But that's just me.
