Got my DCSB SR5 in February of '15 and loved it, but a little buyer's remorse set it in when I started hearing about all the cool features in the '16 revamp. That went away quickly when I saw that front end and now that all the first year issues are coming to light, I'm happier than ever I got one of the last of the 2nd gens.

Reading all these posts, I finally realized what the '16 grille reminds me of...

I wouldn't surprised to see the Tundra and Sequoia go. Kinda surprised they aren't gone already, especially the tundra. Ford and Chevy blow them out of the water in sales, and rightfully so. Tacomas aren't going anywhere though, they have well over half the small truck market to themselves. That may change as it gets more competitive but for now they are here to stay.

Waited for 2016 but already had a 2015 Pro MT on order. Didn't like the front end grill/chin when it finally came out, but it started growing on me. Like all the new features of the 2016, except for for the motor and 6spd auto. Have a 4X4 OR 6spd in quicksand on order but now debating on getting the 2017 Pro that's coming. Decisions decisions.

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
At some point Toyota was going to cancel Sequoia (I believe with 2014 model) and that would have dragged Tundra with it. With Ford selling F-150's like crazy I don't see how Tundra can compete, and a lot of 2016 Tacoma sales will go to F-150.
Than will come Honda Ridgeline and Ford Ranger..
    and Jeep pickup.
Still I would have think Toyota would put up more fight, but since no word on 2017 Tundra, that may be the end.

I bought the last 15 off road model on the lot, don't regret one bit of it. I ain't too fond of that 3.5L V6 and the front end of the 2016.

The 2016 model does have a beautiful interior and I was jealous that they offer new seats because I hated my rock hard seats in the 15, but I test drove one and hated those seats too. Toyota seriously needs to put power seats in the tacomas. Need height adjustability.

I would kill for that new Guage cluster though.

Ugh I think they need to :bananadead: the design team and put a new one. Toyota need to stop incorporating American design to there trucks. At first when 2nd gen some People complaining about the grill being big. And now 3rd is fawking worst! Front bumper also has a plastic hanging down most of American truck has. Tailgate looks like f150 without the stamp. Although i like the crawl control! I think it's legit!

Just picked up my new '15 this week and I'm really happy so far. Test drove the '16 and hated the transmission not shifting properly. I love the interior of the '16 but the front end lower lip is fugly too me. I got a wicked deal on mine because it was on the lot for a while. With the resale of these I bought with the thoughts that I could upgrade to a 3rd gen in a few years if needed and not take a bath on it.

Not only do I love the look of my '14 better, I saved like $10k off a new Tacoma buying used (only 17k miles...).

Seatbelt bracket Mike is in charge of designing new Tundra just as he was in charge of "New" Tacoma and 2007 Tundra before that.
So you can imagine fail is strong with this one.
Rear disc brakes in 2016 ? He thinks Turbo provides no efficiency benefit even so fuelly shows ecoboost on par with Tacoma.
Really curious what he comes up with for next Tundra (if there is next Tundra because if there was 2017 Tundra should have been displayed in Chicago in February)

I agree with the Americanizing statement. Cheap Japanese trucks are supposed to be cheap Japanese trucks. They should be cheap, reliable, and small. I couldn't fathom shelling out almost 40k for a Tacoma. At that point why wouldn't you get an f150? Way more truck with similar operating cost at the same price.

Coz I love Toyota! I need a small truck that I can have fun with. F150 is way to big. I love wheelin and I haven't seen f150 out there. Also not so many fabricator, vendor out there for f150 is it?

That is true, the half ton after market is more focused toward work accessories and where Tacomas aftermarket is more focused toward off road.

The quicksand color alone almost sold me on the 2016. I actually don't mind the look of the OR version, but after reading about the transmission issues, I decided to just stick with second gen and I couldn't be happier.
