Looks did play a part in my decision. Also, the aftermarket support was another factor. I NEVER leave anything unmolested :sawzall:

As soon as we heard they were leaving the 4.0 v6 and going with a new 3.5, my brother and I rushed to buy a couple 2015s. Last model year is always a plus but the looks of the 2016 are not as appealing to me as the 2015 as well. Yes I wish I had heated mirrors and LED lights and a no slam hatch..but I can live without that stuff..Very happy with my 2nd gen.

Bought mine last Sunday! Love the 2nd Gen. styling and performance. Perfect time to get rid of my PreRunner and get the 4x4.

I bought my '15 specifically looking ahead and not wanting the '16. I have no real issue with the exterior looks of the truck, but was more concerned with the new motor and tranny. I wanted the most reliable package I could get, and am not a gambler. For me the best option was to get the tried and true power-train of the '15. So far, I'm very happy with the truck. I just finished the 5k first service, and all is well.

I 100% bought a '15 as soon as I saw the re-design of the '16. If we're being honest here, I think the '16 is hideous and they ruined the Tacoma's looks. Also, I'm one of those that thinks that the more tech a truck has, the more things that can break. For me, the less the better, so a bare-bones '15 was just the way to go for me. I could care less about 'dual-zone climate control'. My wife has her own car - the truck is mine.

I more care that the Tacoma has dominated mid-size pickup sales from '05-'15 with the Taco, and all that without doing a complete makeover during that time. I'd much rather buy a tried-and-true version over a brand-new first-year version with a new powertrain and the grill of a prepubescent LARPer with braces smiling real big on 8th grade picture day.

I should have bought two '15s and kept one in the garage for when this one wears out, which'll be never. I have a feeling I'll see a bunch of '16s breaking down before mine... haven't they already started recalls on them for some bolts?

I bought a 2015 4x4 Tacoma sport last month because I've been wanting one for a very long time. Though I think the 2016 look awesome! I like any and all Tacoma's -period - best trucks you can buy. I'm sure I'd be just as happy with a 2016 though. Can't beat the Tacoma!

The 16's have been growing on me look wise, and I would like to test drive one to make a determination on the engine, however, I think the second gen is a little better looking in the grill.

I drive a lot so I thought about selling my 12 to get a left over 15. I definitely won't be buying a 16 though. If I end up buying another truck it's going to be a new cummins.

Bought a '14 because '15s were supposed to be the "new" gen...then they weren't. I also hang on to cars for a long time (shortest ever was 5 years on a vehicle I bought used), so I'll probably wait till the 4th gen is near and buy a 3rd gen.

Maybe by then they will fix the grille lmao. I also dont care for the taillights . They shoulda made a tundra taillight look a like IMHO

I suppose other than the headlights tail lights and grille its alright looking. I like it more with a 5th gen 4runner bumper/grill

I wasn't sold on the 2016's looks based on pictures, but after seeing it in person, I like it. I bought my 2015 before that though and don't regret it one bit. I got the exact trim and color I wanted. The deciding factors were price and uncertainty around the 1st model year of a new generation. The 2016 has some nice new features but all things I can live without until it's time to upgrade, which I don't anticipate happening anytime soon.

Let's just say I won't feel inferior when a 2016 eventually rolls up beside me at a stop light.

I'm happy with my '15 and don't feel too strongly one way or another about the looks of the '16 but the factory moonroof option would've been nice.

If I had been looking for a truck I probably would have bought a 2nd gen rather than 3rd. The moonroof would have been kind of nice. I don't really feel I need the park assist and blind spot monitoring, already put heated mirrors on the 2nd gen, upgraded headlights etc.

Maybe down the road if they tweak the design a bit but I'm content for now. I also would have been a bit worried to buy a vehicle for the first few years after a major revision.

Hi all. I bought my 2015 DCLB SR5 back in Dec. and could not be happier. Would have been a tough choice if I was in the market now. I do have a canopy on mine so that would have been the deal breaker if none are available for the 16's. Love this truck!!!!! Love this site - lots of great information and humour! Cheers

I have been told I'm the heart of the humor - not so much the information, though! :-D

How do you like your canopy? Best Top?

I have a Leer. Regular side sliding windows and no carpet lining. I have dogs so it is perfect for them. The canopy is awesome. Took it off for a week and had to put it back on - too handy! I have added led lighting and a sleeping platform. ( all from info on this site!!) cheers
