This thread started in '08, ended in '13, and you just woke it up for Slick 50?

You might want to look this over. Modern oils are great. Even dino is quite close to the quality of synthetics of just a few years ago. No additives or boutique oils are needed.

I start the engine to flush the remanding oil after draining. Just few seconds.

Then put new oil filter an 5.5 quarts.

They say 90% of engine wear occurs at start-up. With this method your pretty much starting a dry motor.

Reminds of the dude that after he drained the oil, he put a water hose into his engine to clean out the remaining oil while running the engine.

    Didn't seem to end well

That doesn't matter. The 'start the engine to flush the remanding oil after draining. Just few seconds.' is what matters.

To reset the maint light on my 2013 V6, I press and hold the trip A button. Turning the key to the ON Position while continually holding the trip button the trip display readout will display a series of dashes, they will slowly start removing one at a time until it reads out to all 0’s which equals completed.
