I got the same... 3 keys 2 remotes (1 key was a valet key)

Some cars come with an additional key known as a valet key that starts the ignition and opens the drivers side door but prevents the valet from gaining access to valuables that are located in the trunk or the glove box. Some valet keys, particularly those to high-performance vehicles, go so far as to restrict the engine's power output to prevent joyriding.

but what else has a lock on it in our Tacos??? I dont think my glove box has a lock and i know my center console doesnt have a lock... someone help us out with this! why do we have a valet key?

Edit: I wonder if our key restricts engine power output??

 

My understanding is that the valet key will only allow the vehicle to be driven about 10-20 miles.

So when Johnny wants to take the truck to the store at age 15 or 16 this would be a good key to give him! I would be curious to get the exact specs on our valet key...

Sooo true! if i had the money to go somewhere with valet, i would probably have decided to spend that money on the Taco

The spare key dosn't do anything different from the regular chipped keys. I drove 20 miles, had no limit on power and unlocked all the doors.

 

None. No keyless entry for my 4x4 base Doesn't really bother me though, used to have to crank my windows in my last vehicle. And turning the key twice to open the passenger door is also another feature that makes it not as big of a deal. Power windows was enough of an upgrade for me

 

$3 where I valet part time and people do use the key.
