That’s an honest answer. I respect that. While it was fun keeping the tradition alive it was more about breaking up the monotony of the deployment.

This is vaguely familiar. On the way home from the Gulf and was told our tour was extended 3 more months so we can hang around NoKo for awhile. Ended up in Singapore longer than I wanted to be.

I was on the Nimitz when this was being done. Knew the ceremony was dumbed down because of the camera crew.

Yeah, we were probably there the same time. One of the visits, the Bridge was there for a whole week! I was sick and tired of that place by then.

If you can get sick and tired of Singapore you are doing something wrong there shipmate. For such a tiny place there is so much to do!

I absolutely did something wrong, I went out with the wrong people. I'm not sure it was something everyone did, but during my tour we were required to go with a liberty buddy. All the people I went out with (all from within my division) wanted to go drink or go to Orchard Tower (bonus points if you know the unofficial name or maybe its the official name? lol). So the 4 or 5 times, we had port call in Singapore, it was always going to "American" places like Burger King, Chili's, Hooters and the like. I wanted to see the country we were in, not go immediately to a bar or American style fast food joint. Eventually I hooked up with some shipmates from another division who wanted to see the country and I enjoyed it but by then was tired of being in Singapore. Plus the fact that I was left behind by one of my shipmates so he could hook up with a chick (who ended up being a... hooker, not a ladyboy) didn't help any either. :notsure:
