How many Tacoma Step Side did Toyota produce during the first generation?

Updating this estimate of Stepside production

Searching Cargurus (there were more 1st Gens listed there than any other site I checked) for 2001 through 2003 Tacomas, came up with 118 Tacomas, only counting those with pictures in the listings.
Of those 118, (3) were stepsides. Which is 2.54% of that sample.

SO, three searches resulted as follows:

Sept 2020, (227) Tacos for sale, (3) Stepsides, 1.32% of sample
Feb 2022, (238) Tacos for sale, (7) Stepsides, 2.95% of sample
Dec 2023. (118) Tacos for sale, (3) Stepsides, 2.54% of sample

Combine the three searches and that's 2.23% of the 2001-2003 production. 540,000 Tacomas sold for those three years, results in an estimate ~12,000 units produced.
Sampling just over 1% of the entire population isn't going to be totally accurate, but it's probably as good as it's going to get.

 

Unfortunately for us Stepside owners some parts are getting very hard to find. I’m looking for a drivers side bumper cap topper & Toyota discontinued them so I’m out here on TW searching one out.

 

I will keep my eye out for those parts . I found an ok tail gate a couple months ago
