Foster1, that's exactly the info I was hoping for. Thank you.
They JUST called me back and knocked another $1k off. New price is $33,921. That's about $3500 off the claimed MSRP, but I suspect that number has been inflated by this dealership. They're known for shenanigans.

Even so, they're offering me a generous amount for my trade it to make this deal ($3k more than carmax offered) so I'm inclined to pull the trigger.

Yep, dealers are slowly more willing to discount. Just gotta shop around. I drove 2hrs to get just under 3K off of MSRP on my 2023 TRD OR 4x4 back in Aug.

That's not true as far as I'm aware.

Yeah I just checked my truck's VIN and it does not have that in the sequence.

Them calling you means they're desperate.

When dealerships add on tint, I complain about how much I hate tint and I'm gonna have to pay after to get it all removed which is expensive as hell, voiding the discount they're giving me on the vehicle. They almost always agree to remove the cost of the tint.

I'd be careful buying the first year of a new generation of any vehicle. The first year is the one when all the bugs come to light and have to be fixed. And there will be bugs.

That's why I was saying that my MT 2023 doesn't have LE5 in the VIN.

But regardless you still shouldn't have to have insider knowledge like that use a sheet like that. But we're wildly off topic at this point, so I'll shut up.

First sentence. Could be to move the 23 or just to make a sale in general, or maybe to get the OP's trade..or all the above. But use it to your advantage of course.

My old Chevy had tint on the rear only and I don't think they tried to upsell it, can't recall but it was not a film applied to the glass. Turns out I liked it enough that I had it done (not at the dealer of course) when I got the Tacoma.

The "I hate tint" story is just a negotiation tactic I use to get them to take the price completely off. $500 for off brand tint is ridiculous anyways.

Never used this tool before, but Edmunds says it's a great price. In the words of Wayne Campbell "I'm feeling saucy. I think I'm going to buy it."

One of my local dealers that was giving people the snow job on 5k mark ups plus add-ons is still doing it for there higher trims like limited and pro. Ridiculous, at least they've been consist for the last 4 years.

Sounds like a solid deal, especially if they’re paying more for the trade in.
Keep in mind; there always will be a better deal, vehicle pricing is a constant game, one of the many reasons the model is so despised, but many, so much.

In the end, what’s your time worth? everyone’s situation is different, some have the energy, time, or actual enjoy spending copious amounts of time trying get another nickel off. Others say “F it, I’m about at the bottom, I’ll buy it and enjoy my time spent with elsewhere”
