I went to my local dealer to price a 2017 SR5 Double cab 4x4. They offered me $27,064 for my SR5 Access Cab. MSRP on the '17 is $34,564.
Nothing off the MSRP,he told me they put the discount in the high trade in number. This doesn't seem like a good deal to me.
My 2015 is in very nice condition with 10,400 miles on her.
    Any opinions on this?
    Thanks,George

Did they take anything off the sticker price on the '17?

By the time i sold it and paid the sales tax on a clean deal I probably wouldn't be ahead that much. I just think they should take something off MSRP. I've only been to the dealer once. They called me said they were looking for used trucks etc. Just a ploy to get you in there if you ask me.

$25,500 for my 15 SR5 DCSB 4x2 with 35K. Push your dealer on getting more trade in for your truck. Mine went from $24,000 to $25,500. Remember you are only taxed on the amount left over after you subtract the trade in value from the sale price. Push for more on your trade in. Tell them you want $28,000 or $28,500 for it.

I know about the sales tax, that's why I would rather trade than sell outright. At $27,000 they are at the high end of KBB trade in value. I'm going to have to get them to work on the MSRP.

No trade in is ever a good deal for the buyer. Unless you are really really lucky. Do you feel lucky?

And for those who get all spun up over tax offsets, just add that value to your selling price.

I got $30999 (I asked for $31k and after back and forth this is what I got lol) on my 2015 DCLB Sport 4WD in June, got my 16 DCLB 4WD Sr5 for $31090. But this was lots of back and forth and a walk out and almost walk out again.

Sounds to me like you are getting a fair number for your truck. I thought about trading my '16 Limited fully loaded with only 2800 miles in mint condition in on a new Tundra in September, one dealer offered me $32,500 as a trade, the dealer I bought the truck from offered $34,500 and both wanted full MSRP for the exact same Tundra!

Around here no tundra sells at msrp

    Dealers are stocked with them
    Can't give them away

I am often tempted to get a Tundra Double cab, 8 feet bed, 5.7L 4WD. Almost 3500$ cheaper than a TRD or Tacoma and 11,000$ cheaper than my poseur Pro

They don't seem to sell many here either and are priced above the Tacoma for same trim levels by about $5k. Don't know why but you just don't seem to get much for your trade, but they ask a premium price for your trade once it's on the lot.
