Good point. There isn't really any differences between the sport and SR5 except a defferent radio setup with navigation standard and I heard you can get that same radio on the SR5 for extra.

Like you said the seats are light gray in the SR5 and dark gray in the sport.
Sport really only has exterior cosmetic upgrades with the fake hood scoop, the painted plastic bumper, and different wheels which I don't like anyway. I actually prefer the black grill on the SR5 and limited trims better than the chrome grill on the off road and sport trims. I just ordered a TRD pro grill for my truck which looks a lot better than the grill on it now.
Just installed nerf bars and tinted the front windows on mine. All that's left is the grill and the black TRD wheels and my truck is complete. In my opinion I would buy a SR5 over a sport and take the money you save and buy some running boards, nicer wheels, ting the front windows and lift it by 2 inches and the SR5 model would look better than a stock TRD sport model.

Let's don't let this thread go dormant....no activity since Saturday.

This is a very worthwhile forum and it sure helped me know what a good price on my new Tacoma was!!!

Has anyone completed a deal with Manhattan Beach through the Costco Auto Program? They quoted me Invoice + 250 as several dealers said that's not likely or barely have budged off MSRP.

@Gooney I don't know about that one in particular but my experience in September with my TRD OR was this:

#1 Costco auto program claimed $500 over invoice, but then also added some $925 costco admin fee. Thats the problem with negotiating on invoice pricing, they get you to agree to something like "invoice plus $500" then hit you with a crap-ton of admin fees.
#2 The "email a bunch of dealers for lowest OTD quote to order my config" technique detailed elsewhere resulted in OTD quotes substantially lower than the Costco price would have been OTD.
#3 A couple of dealers told me "nobody is selling these below MSRP"... while I had in hand an OTD quote for invoice+$500+TTL

Life's too short to play with dealers who just want to jack you around. Read up on the technique in #2. I've posted about it in this thread.

Thanks! Been searching for couple weeks now and barely getting anywhere on pricing. I'll look for your thread, but I think buying in SoCal is a different beast. Especially reading this forum since my search.

Yes, market conditions will vary by region. Particularly in terms of which models dealers are more flexible on. I seem to remember a number of SoCal folks getting deals from somewhere in NV but don't have any details. I could also be misremembering.

need to learn more about this stuff
@Gooney I have a TRD Sport 4x4 DCLB being built right now through the Costco Program at Manhattan beach Toyota. I did what everyone suggests first. the send what i want to all dealers within 100 miles. I didn't get anything below $500 under MSRP. Most wouldn't go below MSRP. then, the second issue was they were all trying to sell me something "similar" to what i wanted. I had saved a response because i was saying it soo often. "I don't want something similar. i am about to spend close to $40k on a truck, i want exactly what i am asking for" i was so sick of them trying to shove a Short bed and not Quicksand color down my throat. those were things i specifically wanted. Long bed and quicksand (which are pretty impossible to find in southern california i now realize). so going with the costco program and manhattan beach toyota and having them build it to my specs, was perfect.

i worked with Ken Howard. good guy. khoward@manhattanbeachtoyota.com his cell is (310)951-2746
before tax im lookin at $36k. TRD Sport 4x4 DCLB, tow package, ton cover, all weather mats, black nerf bars.

i really could not get even close to that price outside costco program. dealerships around were asking for $38k + for something that wasn't even what i wanted.

Nice Friday the 13th was a lucky day for you. Lol!
I paid an out the door price of $37k on my TRD off road 4x4 and it doesn't have the premium tech package but it came with a tonneau cover.
Excellent deal on your trade too. $4300 in depreciation over 4 years is great you must of had low miles on it. I had a lease return so no trade in equity for me.

Yeah. Roll back seems to be easier to remove than the tri-fold.

so 2017 TRD sport, dbl cab , MSRP 36000(and change),don't have ppr work yet, -1000 dealer ? =35 k, traded a 2007 TRD OFF road dbl cab, 92000 mi (only), -13.5K=21.5 K, +taxes, fees etc etc gets it to 24 K out the door, + they give me a 424$ roof rack no charge, installed for nothing , they wanted to give me 11.5 k for trade at first, said 13.5 or I walk, they said ok, blue book had the trade value at between 13-15 k depending on condition, the thing is the trade has the new frame and springs also

so what do you think ? I always feel like I could have done better(buyer's remorse), also was a cash deal

If you're happy with the purchase that is fine.
Dealerships always try to low ball you when you have a trade. They are going to give you fair Kelley blue book value at best even if your trade is in excellent condition. Big dealerships are a huge rip off when it comes to buy your trade.
    https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/inven...e_0&isRecentSearchView=true#listing=164506716
But then again you didn't get robbed too bad as this 2007 Tacoma TRD sport with 120,000 miles list price is $14,600.

I am shocked they didn't give you more than a $1000 discount on the sale price of the new truck since they low balled you on your trade but they did give you a free roof rack.

Ironically, they are less less likely to give cash buyers a great deal since the finance manager doesn't make any commission for setup the financing and they know that the cash buyer isn't going to buy their extended warranties, tire protection, gap insurance, low jack, or any of that BS.

If you happy with the truck that what matters.

^ the sales manageress was blah blah blah, the condition of the trade, mostly cosmetic stuff in my opinion, rusted out somewhat rear bumper, scratches and dings, tires cracked, etc, she had a good spiel, the thing was when they threw in the roof rack at the end when I mentioned it, I was like ?

Yeah sales managers want to steal your trade. The fair market value of your 2007 Tacoma is still about $18000 and they bought it from you $13,500. They have the potential to make $4500 off your trade.
They will initially list it for $18000 and after 30 days they will drop the price to $17,000 and drop it another $1000 if it doesn't sell within 60 days. Still make $2500 profit if it takes 60 days to sell.

Preowned vehicle sales is pure profit for dealerships.

the 14.6 k taco there was cleaner than mine, so I can't complain too much i guess, would have liked in hindsight for them to throw in some running boards also, Ha ha

I'm justifying it to myself also as the 2007 was 26k out the door with a 4k trade, at a 30k msrp. It was a spur of the moment deal also as I didnt do a whole lot of looking
