Same here. I have a 2WD as well. Some TacomaWorld members are critical of 2WD, but I understand my driving habits and usage.

I learned a long time ago to do what is best for you and not worry about what everyone else is doing. If you need 4WD that's awesome. I don't need it right now so it wasn't worth the extra money for me personally.

    Here’s my advice FWIW:

    1) make the overall cost more important than the payment. Remember the lower your payment, you’ve likely got a much higher interest rate or you’re making payments much longer which results in you paying a lot more in interest if you’re not trading in another vehicle. This means your $37,000 Tacoma probably will cost you $43,000 as an example.

    2) Don’t lease unless you’re always selling a bought vehicle every 2 years or less. If you’re not keeping your truck, you’re basically paying a lot fuckin more for your truck by making normal monthly payments when you could be making lower payments. Leases are especially good for people who don’t travel much and live close to work, schools etc...

    3) never ever ever take the first price a dealer gives you for the vehicle you want and for the vehicle you are trading. If they won’t budge, walk away. If they still don’t budge, go to another dealer. Easy decision.

    4) probably most importantly, be patient and wait until the month before or the month of new model year to release. Huge rebates and sometimes the updates aren’t worth the markup on newer model year. The 2019 is the perfect example.

Finally after 2 years of wanting to get a Tacoma, I finally got one. It was difficult to find a 2019 that had the Tech Package and not the premium.

    2019 TRD Off Road 4x4
    Tech Package
    Mud flaps

    MSRP - $38,759
Sale price before TTL - $33,350

This is exactly the same offer I have, but mine was an M/T. 34K out the door after accessories/TTL.

Dam straight. I have a 2019 Access cab V6 SR with SX package, have done less than 500$ in upgrades, (intermittent wipers, seat covers, fog lights, coin holder, tweeters) and have spent way way less than a lot of the folks on here. My other car is front wheel drive and I am retired, not interested in offroading etc so for me it was the right choice. Took my time found what I wanted and got a good deal as well. The info on the mods and how to do them has been really helpful I just ignore the B.S stuff, to old for that.

SO how's this look? Think there's any more wiggle room there? What's the negotiating tactic from here? This is basically the 2nd price I got emailing the internet sales rep. This price is throwing in the floor liners and removing the price they charge for pulse brakes.

2019 TRD OR 4x4 DCSB, bed cover, tech package
    MSRP: $39,280
Price: $34,464 including incentive and before TTL

$4,816 off MSRP isn’t bad. Me? I would wait until the last day of September and shoot for a better discount.

Yeah this truck has been sitting at least a month too. I hadn't inquired about it because their website pics were for a long bed. Walked the lot the other day and realized it was actually a short bed. Only one in the color I'm after, but I think there are more in the area.

So say I wait to the end of the month...how much more do I ask off?

I’d say shoot for a $6k discount from MSRP since it’s not a Pro. And if you want a long bed DO NOT SETTLE! You will regret your purchase in the long run. Best of luck...

Oh no, it was listed as a LB on their site but I'm looking for a SB. My instinct was to ask for another $1k off so making it an even $6k total makes sense.

The thought of a Pro is still on my mind. I just don't really like any of the colors for the long haul. Black would be my choice by not sure I want a black truck.

I posted this in another thread, but here is the breakdown on my 2019 Quicksand DCLB. I got it at a Carmax/Toyota lot, brand new (well, 15 miles on it). I'm happy with it, considering the Jeep Rubicon I was looking at was 10K more.

    MSRP: 37375
    Options:
    Wheel Locks 80
    Door Edge Guard 140
    Floor/Sill Liners 248
    Delivery Fee 1095

    Total with Options: 38938

    CarMax Price: 35498
    Toyota Cash Rebate: 1750

    Actual on-lot price: 33748

    Fee/Taxes/Title

    Processing Fee: 99
    6% MD Taxes: 2136
    MD Title Fee: 289

    Out the door price: 36272

Sounds great. Have them throw in a bed mat and rubber mats while you're at it.

Considering the deals that have been made over the last couple months and the 2020 Tacomas are being assembled as we chat on this forum, I think you can do slightly better.

A $5k-6k discount is the sweet spot, in my opinion. With only a second offer in hand, you’re a mere $184 from a $5k discount. I think you can easily get a $5,500-$6,000 discount by getting a competitive bid from another nearby dealer—just reach out, let them know you’re a serious buyer ready to purchase (let’s say, by the weekend), forward the internet sales rep/manager your current offer and ask if they can do any better.

You’re in prime position to get a great deal! Keep us posted.

Does anyone recommend a good salesman/dealer in the Houston, TX area to get a good deal on a 2019 TRD OR 4x4? Thanks!
