Don't fret too much. Resale is majorly hurt by $5000 discounts. Can't have it both ways. IF I have a 2017 trade and 2019s are going for $5000 less than mSRP. I would have to take the same and more off the used vehicle trade or sale. No one will pay good money for a used truck if they can get new for $5000 under MSRP...Simple economics. Toyota has been using used truck prices to sell new ones.

The one thing about resale. The deeper discounted vehicles have poor resale value because of it.

Downgraded and upgraded at the same time. Traded a 2017 4wd sr5 for a 2019 4cyl 2wd sr with sx package. I'm ok with the deal but it was nothing to write home about. I've been around since before Roswell and needed a lot less maintenance. My wife thinks the quicksand is some kind of ugly..I kind of like it.

Actually the affluent will borrow the maximum amount with current credit interest rates. Then invest their money at higher returns. I have a 2.49% rate for 5 years while tripling my money easily. It’s a no brainer to have your money work for you, than work for your money. It’s how the wealthy get wealthier.

Just bought a 2019 TRD Sport Double Cab (Premium & Tech) for $36,092 after all rebates/discounts (including $500 military and $1000 & $750 Toyota rebates) before TTL. MSRP was $43,526 so got ~$7400 off. Took the Toyota financing for the additional discount money but plan on refinancing after 3 months. Serious EOY deals going on now on remaining 2019s!

I could’ve paid for my truck in cash but instead took the 1.9apr and invested the $34k which will net me a lot more than the $1600 in interest I’ll have to pay. Sometimes a car payment allows your money to make you more money.

I thought I got a great rate at 2.49%. My prior car loan I got .99% from my credit union
That’s as close to free money as it comes. Rates this low, borrowing as much as you can rewards free $

0.99 would’ve been awesome! 1.9 was just the Toyota special going on.

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
    ...^^^... Normally that's true .... especially other brands ...

I have had maybe a dozen Toyota trucks and just sold my last one ... a simple 2016 SR5, AC, Auto, V6, Tow ... bought it for $27,012 OTD and sold it for $27,000 (new one costs about $31.5K) with 25,000 miles and 39 months old ... it was showroom new and no visible wear and silver color ... had weather techs and seat covers and a bed cover for protection. If you buy a "Mid Price Tacoma" with most wanted major options ... and the prices continue to go up ... you can get most of your money back. I loved that 2016 and it was maybe the best Toyota truck that I have owned (once I got used to driving it).

    Then I bought a 2019 RAV4 XLE for $26,000 Total ... out the door (I don't pay sales taxes - military exemption).

I have always done well with Toyotas on resale (if you keep them in good shape and find the right buyer). :)

FWIW ... After much research ... I also found a guy who will give super prices on ... "Original Toyota Corp. Extended Platinum Warranties" ... NO Regional or Third Party BS Extended Warranties.

We have different definitions of affluent. The wealthy don't need to borrow, especially for a car. 30k-40k is a laughable amount, won't be noticed.

Dealer here in south FL had mine listed for 41k (2019 white Tacoma trd off road 4x4 6mt with tech package + side steps + other BS) and got it for 36k OTD. I think I was able to get a decent price on it..

Saw they added the 2019 Pro's to the list of trims that qualify for the $1,000 customer cash + $750 bonus cash. Looks like they are trying ramp up for the 2020's.
