I’ve noticed that both Chevy and Nissan love pushing nitrogen filled tires onto people. I’m sure the gas they use isn’t any different than the nitrogen you’d buy at a welding supply shop, and those bottles are about $40/each, I think. Hardly $200 worth of nitrogen, anyway, for only 4 tires.

Quoting myself here — seems that to fill a bottle in Texas is about $70.

Now is not the right time to buy a new or used car. Have some patience and wait a year or so, maybe less

It’s the same here in NJ, Tacoma’s are few and far between. Went to 6 different dealerships and all together they had 3 SR 2.4l with SX package (the truck I wanted) and maybe 30 Tacoma’s overall. Currently leasing for $349 a month 42 months $0 down 0% interest no trade in

For a base SR 4 Cyl with no packages maybe.

My 4 Door 4x4 with a SX package and towing package had a 34K window sticker.

I mean a fully optioned out SR is a few trim pieces shy of a SR5 Fog lamps and a auto dimming rear view (which you can option out as well).

Is getting a SR5 under 30K getting "fucking played"? Remember not all of us live in rural areas. Regional demand is going to drive up prices. Here in florida TRD Pro's have stick prices of over 50K. Here in Florida stickers on 4x2 TRD Sports are 40K. It's crazy.

I didn't pay 34K for it it was negotiated for significantly less but the SR with packages on it is not really a base truck any more.

Right now you can not walk out of a dealership with a new TRD 4X4 OF for under 40K I know I tried. Tacoma's are at a premium. Dealerships are having a hard time finding them and keeping them in stock. In fact a TRD OF 4x4 is pushing closer to 50K if you option it out with TTL and fees. At least in my area.

I checked out two dealerships today, one was completely out of Tacomas, the other had a decent amount. Deciding between a 2017 6 cyl SR5 or a 2020 4 cyl SR. They wanted $30k for the SR5 (basic package) with a trade-in and a "discount" but I could grab the brand new 2020 for $20k. I've got a few more dealerships to check out over the next few weeks but if I can't find anywhere doing an older 3rd gen for under $25k I'm 100% grabbing the 2020 4 cyl then trade it in a few years down the line to grab a hybrid Tacoma.

99 Balloons. To really give you any feedback on the deal if that's what you are looking for - Is the 4 cyl a utility package, or other and what are you trading in / value of trade.

I think it's a utility package, I only saw the 2017 in-person and just got a price on the 2020. I compared what they were charging for it to what my roommate got a few months ago. Tbh, the 2020 SR's all around here are pretty much the same price. Trade in is a 2011 Altima. Carmax appraised it at $3k, the dealership that was out of Tacoma's offered $5k, and the second dealership with the Tacomas only offered $2500.

My roommate's 2020 SR was priced at $26,300 and paid out the door $23,500 ($2,800 savings). The 2020 at the dealership today was priced at $25,700.

Sounds to me like the 2020 is the better deal. You probably know this but the place that will give you more for your trade is just charging you more for the truck. Assuming both are 2wd access cabs, the new one is 10 K less and is warrantied. So the main difference is 6 cyl and a 3 year older truck for 10K more. If you don't haul people much the access cab is great imho. The other thing is that you can add many of the 2017 SR5 features on to your 2020 for not a lot of money esp if you do it yourself : Intermittent wipers 100$ fogs 50$ keyless entry 150$ Anyway all imho, hope that helps and good luck whatever you do!

Yeah that's what I was figuring. I only plan to keep the truck for like 3 years then trade up for a nice hybrid Tacoma when they've been out for a year or two. I just need a new vehicle soon since my current one is on the way out and Tacomas are really great trucks that hold their value well.

I started out wanting an OR, then thought I could save money by going to an SR5, now I just want an SR. Thanks for the info you guys are posting; this is really helpful! I'd love to get a V6 4WD DCSB eventually. Just wish they did the SX on the DCSBs.

Just to preface, I am located in NJ where the demand for Tacoma’s is extremely high and most trucks go for $2-3k over msrp any day of the week. I purchased my truck on the last day of July and the dealership was trying to make a quota. I got my SR access cab with 4x4 i4 with the SX package for $34,500. The sticker price on it was $35,700. It turns my stomach seeing you guys paying under 30k for trucks with similar packages. Maybe I should have flown into the Midwest and drive one back.

Hey man, thank you for posting what you got and what it cost. A lot of people that don't get the absolute lowest price don't have the balls to post the info. and posting it is what helps the others out when they go to purchase. The SX pkg is such a great add on deal, glad you got that included. In the long run you got a really nice truck that you will enjoy. Congratulations!

If you have another vehicle for hauling people the access cab is better proportioned (imho) and you get the longer bed . The other cool thing about the SR is that you can mod it up however you want, and add a lot of the SR5 features for not a lot of cash . Example would be fog lights, for about 50 bucks and a couple hours work. Shop around for what you want and GL on your purchase!

Recent or early this year? Prices have gotten a lot firmer with the shortage the last couple months. Either way, nice discount. Congratulations!

Yeah, I totally agree with you about the proportions. I'd actually like to go with the AC because of the long bed but at this point the truck would need to serve multiple functions. Still saving up anyway so I guess things could change.

Yeah overall I’m super happy with the truck. The salesman had me in a TRD off-road dclb with basically everything but the kitchen sink, we got talking numbers and the price was 47k firm, no wiggle room. He had 4 other people waiting to take a look at the truck while I was test driving. Too rich for my blood. At the end of the day I got the basic features and a truck that will last forever. let’s just hope the super white paint doesn’t place like a lot of users on here say it does.

Nobody should be fooled by Toyota or the dealers. They want you to believe there's a shortage from increased sales, there's a shortage because they cut production drastically because sales tanked a few months ago. Toyota sales are down 36% compared to last year

Always ask for their price without the Toyota incentives which are $2000 rebate or 0% on certain models, which is a manufacturer incentive.
