    Staying stock.. maybe
I bought my 2018 dcsb v6 4x4 tow package for 28,500 new. A friend of mine is looking for a similar truck now. What’s up with the premium pricing only 2 years later on the same specs

Just got off the phone with the dealer since we're buying a Camry TRD 3.5L and mentioned I have a Tacoma and he asked several times to buy it. Of course I'm not.

The camry we're getting for invoice, also excluding any Toyota incentives which is another $2000 off. So, dealers want to sell cars and the bigger dealers are willing to deal (excluding Tacomas).

More demand than supply. The reasons why that's the case can be debated but that's what it boils down to. Check the Carvana thread, people that bought their trucks 4 months ago can resell to Carvana and make a few thousand in profit.

If you don’t mind me asking, and apologies all for getting a little off topic, what was the final purchase price on that TRD Camry? I think they look great. And I believe they start around $30-$31K?

There's all kinds of Camry models and 2.5L and 3.5L. I'd get the 3.5L it's over 300hp, more power than the Tacoma same torque and 1200lbs less. The 3.5L are in TRD, XSE and XLE start at $34k. Our invoice was $30,600 (at least that's what he said).

That’s a lot of car for $30,600. If I could get away with having both my truck and a car I’d do it in a heartbeat. Of course I’d go for the 3.5L, too.

I went to my local dealership in search for a 4X4 Tacoma, they had an SR 4X4 for 37.3K.....

I went to another dealer a week later and they tried selling me an SR5 4X4 for 40.8K........fast forward a month later which was last weekend and I ended up getting a TRD Off Road with technology package for 37.2K from another dealership.

Maybe they were colluding to make you feel like you got a good deal on the OR... ;) JK

Man, those are absolutely crazy prices! I guess for folks who don't know what they could get them for and aren't shopping around, they will feel like they got a good deal when the dealer takes $4,000 off.

A 2020 TRD OR for 37.2K? Thats a great price when I bought the SR the prices were nowhere near that. With TTL Fees it was well over 40K

Thats the thing, they wouldn't take any off on their price. The sales guy with the SR5 was even like " Tacoma and cheap dont go together "... I told him unless they take off a 3 to 4K on their price I wont be buying. Then he tried selling me a TRD Sport 4X2 for 40K and said that most of my driving would not require 4X4 anyway. Finally I told him that I will get a 4X4 Tacoma for 36 or 37 range but it will not be in their lot.

37,289 plus TTL...I did have to drive close to an hour, but it was all worth it.

I guess someone in that dealership, either the salesman or the manager, really wanted to make a profit on the sale rather than throuogh financing or the holdback.

Not a bad drive to get the price you want. Congrats!

Update, couldn't deal with the red seat belts and red trim and synth seats in the Camry TRD. Bought the old man version 3.5L.

As for Tacomas, there was one SR5 on the lot some guy bought for $34k.

The view from inside is just as important as the view from without. And you get a better ride quality now. Congrats on your purchase.

2020's are basically jacked up pricing right now. I've been to six dealerships in the last 3 weeks and '17-'18 SR and SR5s are all >$30k, I can't find a 2020 SR under what my roommate paid for hers '20 Tacoma in January ($23k), the finance guy said that since production on '20s stopped a while ago and they're selling Tacomas way faster than they can get new ones pricing on '20 models are more expensive now than they were 3 months ago. I might wait until the '21s come out tbh.

What's the lowest anyone has paid for a SR SX V6 4x4? I'd be comfortable with $29,500 otd.

That sounds like decent price. I'd like to shoot for $28,000 on that truck.
