I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.

Travis from one of the alabama threads hydrolocked his engine while splashing in a puddle if thats what you are referring to.

I like to be proactive and replace things that are going to break with things that won't break, or protect things that will break.

With that said, I've spent more than I want to think about and I will spend a lot more.

But as far as trail damage costs: 2 new duracraps in one weekend. Even with road hazard warranty it still cost a couple hundred.

Are you referring to me... I think you are!

Well then I guess your in for the winning breakdown! or epic fail....

Gas from Calgary to Whipsaw: Approx $150
Tow truck from Princeton to Penticton: Free
Hotel Room while stranded in Pentiction: $200
Shipping the truck back to Calgary: $500
Flight home for me and the dog: $250
    New Engine: $1,000 (used)
New Fluids in the truck and full mechanical inspection: $1,500

    Before Labour: $3,550

Saving grace was free labour, but factoring in labour for 4 guys @ Calgary rates ($120/hr) a full weekend (10+ hr days) = approx $9,600 paid in parts, beer, food, and knowledge.

    Dealer quoted me $10,000.

SO for those of you around water quite a bit, the $500+ for a snorkel IS WORTH IT!!!!

My wheeling pretty much costs the price of some gas. I've got trails and dirt/gravel roads 5 minutes from the house that go for hunderds of miles.

Thanks! might want to check my build, just added some more to the truck and a bit in the works!

I have actually done more damage on the roads in Calgary then I have on the trail....

New front end after and accident: $3,500
    IMG-20110609-00035_71cddac5a298401e59112e0263758278bee1a80b.jpg

New rear end after an accident: $2,500
pictures are pretty lame, but scuffed both bedsides, need a new bumper, plastic pads, and licence plate lights

The kicker is that they were just under a year apart, with the Hydrolock occurring just after replacing the front end.

I know when I go out to Mojave Rd for a weekend trip its at least $250 just for gas. One time out there I got stuck in mud which caked in the rear brakes and destroyed them. $450 to rebuild those.
