2009 TRD sport 41k miles. Long story short, a 16 year old girl pulled in front of me and smashed up my left front. The hood, fender, bumper, suspension, and maybe door panel are all trashed. How much do you think the truck has depreciated as a result of this? The truck had a clean Carfax before this. I haven't gotten the repair estimate yet. Thnks guys, Bill.

I don't know if there's a way to put a monetary value on repaired damage. What I can tell you is when you do plan on selling it, an accident on the Carfax does steer away a good percentage of perspective buyers.

Would the dealer be able to give me a rough idea?

Yes they should be able to give you something in writing to show to your insurance or her insurance company.

I had a kid hit me in the back of my Tundra. New bumper and bumper bracket. When I went to trade in, they offered me 1K less than they would have. With suspension work being done, it may depreciate more. Just remember, stealerships take from you trading in and buying so whatever they say is questionable to begin with.

So far I've added an Advance folding bed cover and since removed it. Gave it to my son in Maine, he has an 05 2wd. GT perfect fit seat covers. Weathertech floor mats and window vent visors. Waag center brush/grill guard. Hose clamp tailgate mod. Turned off the seat belt chime. Added Ultra-Gauge. Trailer hitch. Softopper. Replaced sun visors with slide out style. Toyota bed extender. Had Firestone Destinations and now Michelin LTX AT2 in stock size. More mods to come; Fog lights, locking storage in bed, intermittent wipers. Now looking for Radio/HU upgrade. and maybe a lift way down the road.
I keep all records to show all damage/repairs. have made out okay but only one time selling car that had been in fender bender and sold later. buyer appreciated openness and records w/ pics.

Used to work as an auto appraiser for Farmers Insurance. Talk to the girls insurance rep and tell them you want to file a diminished value claim for your vehicle. It may take a while for them to work it up, and there's no guarantee that they will pay you anything extra, but if the damage was significant we usually paid at least something for diminished value.

A couple of years ago when I bought my first Tacoma I had asked the sales person that. He said that "it could be upwards to 40%". This is in Canada so I am not sure if it's going to be the samething compared to the USA or not. But I am sure it's not going to be a low percentage by any means.

DV claims are typically very small payouts for common vehicles. The rarer the vehicle the higher the payout.

In 2007 someone crashed into the back of my 2007 Chrysler T&C and did slightly over $6,000 in damage. Allstate paid me $1600 in depreciated value.

That's a pretty bad wreck man. I am no expert, but that may be totaled, especially with the suspension looking the way it is. I have seen totaled jobs with a lot less damage. Be sure to get the frame checked out.

The truck is worth something like $26,000 on kbb and the repair estimate is only $5,500 Si far. But once they tear it down and find the trashed differential, the repair cost should skyrocket. I'm kinda hoping they total it.

That looks pretty much like mine. My insurance company is going back to the dealership tomorrow to do the final estimate. The dealer said there's a lot more damage than they originally thought.

For as bad as it was, nobody got hurt, which is great.

I talked to the dealer today and they said one of the mounting tabs for a control arm is bent up. Isn't that considered frame damage?
