While there certainly is more inflation than our government admits, the trucks aren't the same. Vehicle stability control and side curtain airbags were an extra ~$1500 in '08 and are now standard features. The backup camera was unavailable in '08 and is now included in one of those packages. I'm sure there have been other improvements I can't think of at the moment.

Bought an '09 Tacoma SR5 Access Cab 4cyl, 5pd, 4x4. Sticker was $25169. Got it for $22,209. So $2960 under MSRP and $1210 under invoice ($23419). Did all my shopping/negotiating on the web via email and talked to 10 dealers in NH/ME/NY

The 07 v6 4x4 SR5 at about 71,500 mile I bought was orginally at 16,500..the dealer brought it down to 16,000 so I saved about 500 dollors..I got it off auction though..I tried making a deal with an 06 Tacoma that I got the price down from 21,000 to 18,500 the miles were to high and out of my price range...and a couple first genorations ( it doesnt appear that your looking for one but yeah anyway) I had the price down about 4000 bucks from the original price..My personal advice is if you want the best deal use Edmunds one a year with features bring that to the dealer and fight with them..or find a dealer who buys cars off auctions

I have been looking for a 2010 DC LB TRD and as it has been said there are not many left and the dealers internet price is lower but not low enough, I feel thier atitude is take it or leave it. So I may have to wait for the 2011s.

    I just got it!
2 months ago I purchased a 2005 Access Cab SR5 V6 with 4x4. 74,000 miles on it. It was listed for 18,500 (Canadian) and I bought it for 14,500 (Canadian.)

I've had it 2 months and it's already at 79,500 miles haha.

Bull Guard, KNN Cold-Air intake, 3" Rough Country leveling kit
    invoice: $28,799
    payed: $24,700

2006 prerunner 4X2 offroad double cab
    bought in December 2006

    things to think about:

1:buy at the end of the month, they have quotas to make

2: buy near the end of the year when the new models come out, IE: Novemer 2010, the 2011 models will be out so they want to get the 2010s off of the lot.

3: buy used, mine had 405 miles on it and was considered "used" thats why i got $4,100 off asking price + 2.0% interest from toyota which was unheard of in 2006 on a "used " truck

4: walk out of the sales office at least once so they know you mean business

    hope this helps

    1) Absolutely!
    2) I think the new year models come out July/August. It's been my experience to consider June as the optimum time.
    3) Although I wont argue with you, in my are, buy back have only been around $3,000 cheaper than new. this was true of my wife's 05 Honda Pilot as it was with my 2010 Taco.
    4) Absolutely! I test drove, walked out to think about. Came back next day with wife and took a life-style drive for four hours then left again. Came back the third day and made my offer (last day of month in June).
Got the deal & trade-in value I wanted.

    aukema21, good advice!!!!

Harden your bark, there are storms on the horizon.
it took 3-1/2 hours, but i got them down about $2800 below MSRP. this required me to buy the platinum 7/100 warranty though. (which i was planning on getting anyways...i let them "persuede me" into it)

How much did they charge you for the warranty? The price is seems to vary between $800 and $3k depending on the dealer. You can cancel that warranty for a small fee ($25 or $30 I think) within 30 days and get all your money back.
