I agree with you on that, but getting them out of the yard made my wife happy, and that's priceless... :amen:

Sold the stock wheels off my 16' OR along with a set of used up Toyo A/T's for 400. Sold them in about 4hrs. Dude drove 1.5 hrs to pick them up.

He put them on a silver 2nd gen OR.

Sold my stock Goodyear Adventure (kevlar) tires that were removed before I drove my new 2021 truck for $450. Facebook market place, listed for $495, sold in two days.

Also sold my used Michelin LTX Defenders in 265/70-16 from my old Gen 2 with 9/32 tread for $400 in a few days on Facebook market place.

In Canada, they are worth about 1500-2000 CAD.. i could make a business of buying them in the states and bringing them up here to re-sell...

    Boosted Money Pit....
I traded mine for a car radio only because i would prob get more money. If you have some good tires you can prob get 500 or so. If its a pro I have seen those go for 1000ish.

Really comes down to how new the set is and tires. New take off you can get some good money still.

I got 900 for my 17 off road wheels and tires without the sensors. Tires had less than 500 miles on them.

I always wondered why more people don't separate wheels and tires. Sure it's easier to sell as a set, but I figured it would sell quicker and for more if you split.

Gotta admit that as a buyer I was tempted by a few wheel sets once or twice, but really didn't want to mess with the raggedy BFGs that had to be a part of the deal. Thinking of flipping some used tires to gain some wheels I liked killed the idea for me. Wasn't worth the trouble. But in a parallel universe, if they sold the wheels sans tires at a similar price I might have pulled the trigger. Similarly, someone else just needing a set of tires to hold them over until they can afford new ones won't even attempt to flip a wheelset to get that deal. They can't.

Don't challenge the logic there, because there is none. A lot of people buy on emotional impulse, and as much as I hate it, I sometimes unknowingly waste money on the convenience factor like that.

Of course knowing that for the future, if I ever run across a wheelset that I fall in love with I'll be happy to put up with the labor/storage of selling tires because I know it's the better deal, but for you the seller, that's leaving money on the table.

Or that's my wildass theory anyway.

I sold them to a buddy who owns a used car dealership for $400 bucks. They were basically brand new but no one was interested.

I recently bought a set of 4 wheels only for $100 on FB marketplace. Kept 1 to use as my spare in a 5 tire rotation, and sold the remaining 3 for $100 less than 24hrs later...

I see them for 400-1100 regularly, I won't pay more than $500 or expect others to.
