Fox bodies are my favorite. Had a 88 GT and 93 LX 5.0’s back in the day. Every time I see one now I get jealous.

The final answer is..... no matter what you paid, how low your interest rate or how much you owe, we are all stupid and over paid for our trucks

Have you seen the the used market on our trucks, ridiculous, if you can afford new and plan on holding onto it, its almost the better option.

I went through the same when I bought a second gen, no incentive to buy used for 3k less. I do have a feeling we will soon see a glut of used 3rd gens for sale though

I don't think it reflects on the truck, I've had all the gens, this one is great, but a reflection of the customer base that seems to be buying them, either realizing they didnt need a truck, getting bored and moving onto something else or convincing themselves its a big POS compared to the mercedes they had before.

Yep. Paid cash for the tacoma, and then for our prius (55mpg wooop) we got 0% financing. Just divided the payments into increments corresponding to the amount of 0% months. A lot of work and a lot of lean years behind us, mind you.

This thread has been very eye opening...I now feel the hole in my wallet even more...lmao

I do know that I'm spending this entire year saving every penny I can, getting rid of all debt and getting my credit score up BEFORE I try to purchase a 2020 Taco. New government job that pays almost triple what I use to make..It may not be 100% paid for in cash same day though...

Does that make me adult enough to join the conversation??

For those of you talking about your investments:
No mentions of the ups and downs (mostly down) of the stock market these last 5 months?
    Where you been?

There were losses from the October highs that just kept accumulating. Panic selling by December.
We're only now seeing the S&P back above the 200 day moving average.
And the market as a whole is basically where it was a year ago.

So it's not like there's anything guaranteed.
Well, bonds, but that strategy doesn't do much more than provide a shield against inflation.
Yes, if you've been long in the stock market for the last 10 years, you've probably done well.
Or mutual funds or REITs, whatever.
The key is getting out of debt, saving significant money (painful as that might be), investing and staying in long enough.

You'll inevitably have some painful losses from time to time.
One step back and (you hope) two steps forward.
People seem reluctant to remember the rough patches.

Just thought I'd mention it. ;)

Anyway, I'm glad I sold off some stocks in September and bought a condo as a rental property.
Because despite the big rally these last two months, the late 2018 losses have still not been recouped.

Oh yeah...I have no debt, but I'm not rich.
I'm, hmm...reasonably comfortable. Secure (I hope). I better be, since I've recently retired.

I suspect very few members here qualify as "rich". :p

I saved and paid cash for my Taco. The only debt I plan on in this lifetime will be a mortgage.

Threads like these are 100% consistent on every message board. You get three profiles

    1. "Cash is king, I am financially superior"
    2. "I financed at 0.9% because I make 1% on the stock market, I am a shrewd businessman when it comes to Wall Street, you wouldn't believe how smart I am"
    3. The silent majority who has a loan out on their vehicle

For #3, don't let the #1's and #2's get you down. A Tacoma is as smart of a vehicle purchase as you're going to make, it's AOK to take a loan out. You're looking at a five year loan on a vehicle of an easy 10-15 year useful life and in the meantime you need reliable and safe transportation.

I think I'm right around 18k remaining on my '18 (traded in Wrangler unlimited dropped it way down). Wound up with 0% apr over 48 months so no big hurry to pay it down any faster.
