We all know vehicles are not “investments” 99.9% of the time. I bet some decent % of people would do better not to own at all...chosing ride share and if available transit. (Ok a hard sell in the US). So, for many it is essentially fiscally irresponsible to purchase all but basic transport, thus unless we are spending true disposable income we are all irresponsible.

My current truck was purchased for cash as there were no 0% financing and I am guessing the market is plateauing a bit. These savings were conjured from after savings for a proper retirement, home and kids education funds and took 15 years to collect including the capital gains on said savings.

If I followed my own logic I should have bought a used and serviceable Camry or Civic. Regardless I wanted a kick ass Taco so blew my wad.

I owe about $22k on my 2017, but at 0.9%...so in no hurry. I'm just dropping minimums on it every month and waiting on the next gen Land Cruiser. Just don't know whether to keep the Tacoma or not once it's time to jump. Leaning towards keeping it for a foul weather/farm vehicle.

Agreed. Stupid in my opinion would be someone that finances something and it gets repo'd.

Me too, I paid cash. Sorry.

    My version:

Or something. Maybe I just have different priorities.

Anyway, that was true before I got rid of the shitty Malibu.

The Tacoma was my first new brand new vehicle. Looking back I would’ve preferred to knock school out first but don’t regret having my truck. Still about 18k left, should be paid off within the next 2 years right as I graduate from college. Plan is to pay off the truck and then focus paying off my school loan. Make payments on school loans for a year, maybe two if I really need it and save at the same time and then pay off in one lump sum since I’ll have about 20k for my school loan.

This and people tend to inflate or create their own perceptions of reality on the interwebs. I'm betting alot of people here financed with 0 down and put $5-10k on plastic to build their mall crawler to keep up with the TW joneses.

This thread is comical, full of financially responsible third gen owners who are either on the cusp of paying off their taco or have completely paid it off. Might as well have limited responses to responsible owners only.

Don’t think the average owner who financed for 5-7years are going to post their status. Where’s that 18 yr old who posted his own thread a few weeks ago?:spending:

As a backup I also am making double payments a month ($1000) that way I can just beat this balance down. So hopefully by end of 2020 it will be paid

Paid cash for my 2018 Limited. I had some time to save up as I traded in my 2004 4Runner. It is a good feeling knowing that it is paid off. :)
