Full coverage on all $234 Month AAA The Mini is the newest so the most expensive. Average $78 a month for each. I keep full coverage on them because too many idiots have no insurance.

Canadian dollar isn't that low... Can't be any lower that 35 cents below right now... I'm still paying a ton for insurance because our government runs our insurance program. We don't get private insurance here... They have the monopoly.

I WAS paying $986/month back in 2010 for those two accidents. So that's more like comparing apples to butt plugs... Butt plugs that our government so frequently forces on its citizens in exchange for apples (probably the worst analogy I could come up with)

Age, driving record, coverage amounts and other things, including credit score, play as much, or more, a factor in a premium costs.

Threads like this give you little actual information.

If shopping for insurance, there might be more meaningful questions to ask. Maybe like about customer service experiences..........

It is worth shopping every 2-3 years. If nothing else, you may find that what you have is actually pretty good.

One thing I'd offer is to include an independent agent in your shopping.

True, but insurance didn't drop when Cdn was $1.05 US a few years back.

There are a thousand ++++ reasons for differences in insurance premiums. BC is one of few places where everyone is at the same base rate for basic insurance, then discounts apply depending on years accident free. A 16 year old pays the same as a 50 year old driver, if both are new drivers with no past driving experience. Collision is based on vehicle cost, age etc. But again, discounts only apply after years of safe driving.

Government owns the insurance company and all vehicles in BC MUST be covered for basic through the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC)...no exceptions (unless you are a Corporation who posts a bond, Gov't, or Military...unless that's changed).

I just talked to my Insurance, they stated rates have gone up because 37% of the population are not insurance so you they have to spread the cost to people who have insurance. WTF!

I was paying around 100 a month with AllState. Last year in my 2014 Accord coming in to work on the freeway, I had to swerve to avoid hitting a trash bag full of crap in the middle of the freeway. My right bumper still hit it and damaged the inner wheel well and cracked my fog light. AllState said it was my fault and more than doubled my premium. I went over to Mercury and kept them with my Tacoma and I still have to pay 200 a month for something that wasn't my fault. In my 12 years of driving, never been in an accident or ticketed.

Regarding USAA, do you, yourself, have to have served in the military to qualify? My father served, but he is now deceased. Would love to get a quote from them, but haven't tried.

So with the exchange rate of .74 about $750 USD every 6 months which is about the same that I pay for my Tacoma and 2013 Lexus ES350.

$466 every six months. Horace Mann Company. They insure teachers, firefighters and Law Enforcement (that's me, retired). They only insure low risk drivers and that keeps rates low. I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Michigan has had the highest insurance rates in the Country for the last five years. Horace Mann saves me a lot of money. This is for full coverage insurance with $500 deductibles.

Canadian Insurance is higher perhaps because it includes Medical Injury
