Had to run some stuff to the transfer station, they weigh before and after you drop off and it got me wondering.

How much does your Tacoma WEIGH?

Sorry if this thread exists, didn't find a specific one with a quick search.

With a full tank of gas, ARB front bumper, All-Pro Off-Road Swingouts rear with spare (34" tires) sliders, front skid, and the gear I regularly haul scale says my truck is a surprising:

    5200 lbs!

    PXL_20201022_175338423~3.jpg

Right on the dot but I think the scale is only accurate to about ≈10±.

    How heavy is yours?

@nudavinci64 I think will hold the crown. I think his truck is almost 7000lbs. I would say mine is around 4000lbs.

And that's static weight? That's crazy.

Now I'm curious. Back when I was completely stock it weighed a nice 3250lbs with a full tank and only a bed mat as a mod according to a weighing station slip.

I wonder where I am at now. I'll see if I can make a trip to a scrap yard and get my tare weight

I decided to pull the Hot water heater, propane, water cans, and mounts off just last night. Didn't want the heater to get damaged if it froze, and not planning any camping for awhile. Crazy how things add up so fast. Had 80lbs for water and cans, 25 for the propane tank and mount, another 30 or so for my hot water system, and whatever the dual jerry basket weights. Prolly took 135lbs or more off.

~6450 with a full tank of gas, drifter (485# with 2x frontrunner doors, fan, and 6ft awning), steel front (hybrid) and rear bumpers (dual swingout), 1/4" bamf steel skid trilogy, bamf sliders, kbvoodoo side rail caps, full sized spare 33" tire, ADS suspension all around with 700# springs up front and upgraded deaver stage 3 leaf pack, bbk, fridge, and two passengers. I'm slightly heavier now since I upgraded to 35" MTs (geolandars).

My truck is a pig and needs to go on a diet but even without the drifter, I was ~5900 before installation.

The GVWR on most 2nd gens is 5450 lbs. That is supposed to include all passengers, cargo and modifications. If true you're overloaded by 1000 lbs. My 4X4 F150 Supercrew is right at 6000 lbs.

My Tacoma is right at 4500 lbs including the fiberglass cap.

yah were almost identical. the 35's prob are what put me close to the 7k that and the 1/4 BAMF setup that I also have.

yah most of the expo rigs you see out there are over the GVWR for sure. When I was talking to someone about Deavers they would not recommend anything and said it would come from Deaver. They pretty much said the same but said they would get it taken care of but shedding 500lbs will be major. I am getting a wedge camper setup soon so as I pull my shell will pull things like slide, tire, gas etc and see how much I can get the truck down and try and pin point anywhere I can drop weight. going from 1/4 BAMF to a 3/16th setup will save prob 100lbs on its own. I was going to look into a hybrid but most of the hybrids seem to weigh more than the Pelfrey plate bumper (not sure how i feel on that).

fully agreed. I want to shed weight but for the type of wheeling I do and the bad lines i end up on, there isn't much area to lose weight short of stripping the interior and what not.

1/4" bamf steel skid triology = ~150 pounds is my guess
steel bumpers with swingouts = ~few more hundred pounds
bigger tires = ~100 more pounds over stock
    sliders = 62.5# each
just that alone is probably ~600-700 pounds into the 1k payload capacity of the truck without any camping / recovery gear and no passengers.

to be able to safely run rubicon / slickrock and similar trails out here in the sierras, not sure which of the above I'd be willing to remove (though I have thought about removing my swingouts and just strapping the spare tire in the drifter). I think once I'm ready to no longer run hard trails, I can start to reduce weight and switch out to aluminum armor. If I can find a way to remove the drifter easily and store it at home, I'd do it since I'd much prefer driving around daily and on wheeling day trips at a much lighter weight.

With all of that being said, the rear frame of my truck is boxed, upgraded big brakes in the front, better pads all around, ss brake lines, stronger leaf pack and springs make the truck drive and stop pretty good and I try to drive like grandpa everywhere.

I was hauling rip-rap in mine a few years ago so if I recall correctly, mine was right at 4,400 lbs, mostly stock. The only weight adder I have is a set of sliders.

4400ish last time I went to the transfer station scale. Was like 4640 or something and I weigh 150. Access cab and only things heavier than stock are 285/55’s and aluminum Thule bed racks.
