Yes, I have seen in a maintenance manual that one of the changes from 01 to 02 was a bigger fuel tank, but my buddy has a 01 and mine is 02, and we have been on a road trip from Florida to North Carolina and we both had our fuel lights came on at the same time and filled with the same amount of gas, so I don't know about that. We both have 18.5± gal tanks.

Does he have the 2.7L? I'm thinking they may have used the 5 lug Tacoma tank which is 15.? gallons until they decided to change it.
