All depends on where you live. MMR on it is right under $24k so retail is almost $28k.

That sounds about right for an ASKING price.
I’d pass myself, but that’s me. I am not looking for a new(er) Tacoma.

If this were 2010. When I was looking for my Tacoma, I’d probably be looking at a different brand truck.
The prices are mind blowing on these trucks currently.

Here's something to consider. All of the 3rd gen trucks are made in Mexico with cheaper parts. 2015 was the last year that the trucks were made in the United States with U.S. parts and Japanese parts. I would keep my 2015 any day of the week over the newer gen.

This !!! That's why 2gen and especially the 2.5gen have such a high resale value.

You’re trying to say the actual parts on Tacomas assembled in Mexico are Mexican parts and the trucks that used to be assembled in the U.S. have American-made parts? I would challenge those with a USA or Mexico sticker on the door jam to go through their trucks bumper to bumper and confirm that. Look at casting numbers on moving parts, stamps on electrical relays, hoses, etc.

My bullet proof 2007 with 215k miles was made in Mexico with JAPANESE parts. It was an amazing truck and fetched a high resale due to the climate of availability. The 2nd gen and 2.5 gen shot up in value due to COVID related supply chain issues on new Tacomas. It’s not because consumers are checking door jams, it’s because up until a couple months ago they were simply more available than a new truck, relatively speaking.

The used vehicle market as a whole spiked like no one’s business because all new vehicle production was interrupted.

People often prefer the 2005-15 Taco for the 4.0 engine, and the better automatic transmission. However, I can say my 2007, 2009, and now 2021 were all excellent, all Mexican assembled. And this is coming from a very patriotic individual and die hard Toyota enthusiast.

That is simply not true. Not being defensive of my 3rd Gen (which was actually made in Mexico) but there are defiantly 3rd Gen trucks made in the US. Quality is indistinguishable, A Toyota plant is a Toyota plant.

My Rav4 Hybrid is made in Japan (2020), my wife’s 2019 was made in North America. Also no difference what so ever.

None of the 3rd gen Tacomas that I've seen on trade in have been stamped U.S. anywhere. I'm only talking about 3rd gen Tacomas. I can't speak to any other vehicles at all.

24-28k here in my area is what that would go for.

    Don't pay the sticker.

If that is the truck you want, then go in to the dealer, make an offer. They will most likely counter. If you don't like the counter offer, then you have a choice. Walk away, accept, counter.

I'm not harping on the fact that the truck itself is made in Mexico, it's the fact that Toyota decided to start doing parts produced in Mexico. In my opinion there is a huge quality difference there. My experience to back this is that I work in the automotive industry primarily with Hondas. Honda is making a lot of their parts in Mexico now, and the quality is a shit show to say the least.
