    3 inch lift on 285/75r 16
I have 285/75 R18 tires and wondering what kind of lift to get? I don't want to have to cut anything just barely enough to not rub.

You won't fit those tires without rubbing without some SERIOUS lifting. There are lots of threads on this, just look around. Guys have to do a lot more than a bit of trimming to fit 35's like you've mentioned. You're likely better off with 33's.
