Hey guys, Just looking for a little last minuite help. Tomorow i am having a new muffler installed and am leaning towards the magnaflow 14'' but also concidered the flowmaster 40. i have a 3.4L with AFE pro dry filter and soon deck plate mod. After reading all i have in the forums the magnaflow seens to be the popular choice i am just affraid it wont be loud enough and have heard the flowmaster is too loud. I have listened to many video clips but as we all know the quality dont do the exhaust any justice. Can we rate how loud the magnaflow is with the stock muffler being a 1 and the "too loud" flowmaster being a 10.

THANKS AND HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY NEW YEAR :)

Magnaflow ftw, it gives a deeper sound than flowmaster, from what i have heard.

I figured the fm 40 wouldnt be too loud. but i am just going by the other thread replys. Also the magnaflow seems to have better gains. That is the main reason im leaning towards magnaflow.

    Magnaflow>chokemaster

I have a flowmaster 40 on my truck, and its not that loud...and it doesn't sound nearly as nice as a magnaflow.

Just get the 14'' Magnaflow and enjoy the tone

I had a flowmaster 50 on my 3.4 and it was alright. Not really as loud as I wanted it outside, but sounded decent inside. So I gutted the cat, mistake, the in cab noise was horrendous. After hearing the magnaflows on the 3.4 I would go that route if I had to do it again

I've had a few 4runner friends put 40s on just to take them off after a month or so

supercharged with lots of midtravel bling.
I went from a Flowmaster 40 with a tailpipe to the magnaflow 14 dumped before the axle. I was happy with the flowmaster but it did get loud after a year and a half and the baffles started falling apart. I wanted to just dump my next muffler and am very happy with the magnaflow.

oh and the magnaflow dumped is quiter than the flowmaster ever was with a tailpipe.

Most of us dump over axle because if you Offroad an play on the rocks stock tailpipe will get crushed... I cut mine off and I still hit a rock with my rear quarter panel right where the tail pipe would have been
