Oil dries out. But you may have already known that if you’ve over owned a vehicle! We’re sure that you’ve, no doubt, found yourself checking that dipstick and wondering how much oil did I just lose....

If the truck burns and leaks enough oil, you never need an oil change.

There were also no signs of smoke or strange smells either. That is because nothing is wrong with the car. So what was causing all the oil to “disappear” and where was this mysterious oil disappearing to?

For most cars, it is highly recommended for you to change the oil every 7,500 miles or so. If your car is newer you might be able to go longer before changing or checking your oil.

How much oil should be on the dipstick? Examine the end of the dipstick and notice where the oil ends.

When I was young I worked in a filling station, a kid would come in with a Chev Vega and buy 2 quarts of straight 30 grade oil. He put 1 quart in there at the station and would put the other in at his girlfriends house for the return trip to town.

The girlfriend lived 15 miles away! Oil dripped out of the tailpipe...

I have learned over the years that if I use the much higher quality brands of oil, it has a better understanding of it's job and does not aimlessly wander off.

Can't say that for the cheap stuff though, it acts like a really stupid dog that constantly chases random squirrels. I can't believe companies can even sell that to the public. Go figure?
