I heard a rumor from a good friend of mine who was a German VWAG Trained VW tech in the early 1960s and brought to Flagstaff, AZ to be the tech at the brand new VW dealership on Route 66 in 1967 (the same building I worked in for VW/Audi '95-'98). He told me that said that Hitler asked Porsche to build an engine that would burn no oil. Porsche said that he could and it would seize in 5 hours.
My friend's dad worked for Telefunken during WWII he was able to redesign the V2 to be 10% more fuel-efficient.

I heard a rumor that Karl Benz patented a 2 cylinder in the late 1800’s that burned oil at a high rate of loss….

Theoretically you could wipe just about all your oil on to a cloth if you checked it enough, I reckon.

The owners manual for my ladies Q5 says that a half quart every 1000KM (600MI) is acceptable. Seems like cause for concern to me, but Audi says it’s normal.

Not enough bandwidth on the internet to list.
    I'm so sorry.

...about the Pacer, that is...

I had one as a rental for about a month when my Cherokee was in getting body work...twice. I took out more mailboxes with that POS then one could imagine. So many, I started stamping the count on the door like an old fighter jock.

It’s been a good rig, but has needed oil a couple of times between services. But she’s not great with following the service schedule, so it would be unfair to fault the vehicle. Other than that, fewer issues, with more miles than her Acura MDX. It’s long out of warranty, and everything about it is expensive. I’ve been encouraging her to think about moving on to something new.

Oil level in my taco stays the same between changes, im at 35k miles. I would not be happy if my engine started using oil, even a small amount.

It’s not normal for an engine to burn oil.
