I did pay $24,477 when it was new in 2009. The MSRP was $29,500 but USAA and Toyota offered huge discounts back then.

    I paid $26,500 for my 2008 V6 SR5 4X4 AC.. sticker was $27,995
8 years later and 140,000 miles on the odo. it's worth $16,425 (clean) retail or $13,425 (clean) trade in, according to NADA. The prices they are asking here in NE for used Taco's seems to be above book value. If someone is looking for a 2 or 3 year old used one, they're better off paying the extra $4/5K and getting a new one IMO.
The used ones are ridiculously priced around here.

I recently had a 2004 TRD double cab with 200,xxx miles stolen. The insurance company gave me a check for just under 14,000$. I am now driving a 2012, but I sure do miss my baby.

When I was looking back in 08 for a used Tacoma, all I found were a couple and they were only a couple thousand cheaper. I wound buying new. 88000 miles now, no idea what the value is. I'm not selling it. It's paid for!

Paid 11,500 for an 08 single cab 5 lug with 38k in 2012. Wrecked and totalled...check paid 1000$ than what I paid 3 years previous and had put 70k on it. Used the check to get and upgrade for 3k less than the bank listed...
    Good investments.

I paid $25500 for my 08 ORAC new and when I traded it in for my new 15 a few months ago I got $17000 on trade. They had it listed for $21750 on their website and sold it shortly thereafter.

I sold a 98 AC 4x4 v6 $7,500.00. I bought new for $21,500.00. 18 yr old truck. It had 88,000 miles. The reason it had so few miles is I always had a company work truck.

That's exactly what I ended up doing. Most 2012 to 2014 Dbl Cabs were just 4 to 5k less than new. I'm in Mass.

    Non yet...
I bought my first taco in 2012 ('06 sr5 AC w/ 68k). 2 years later I let my friend borrow it to go camping, he was ran off the road the next morning and my taco was totaled. I paid $16,300 when I bought it used and when it was totaled the insurance company gave me $17,000. I put 60k on it in those two years. I used the insurance money as a down payment on my 2014 TRD Sport.

I paid 24K for my new white 2005 Tacoma TRD Off Road V6 SR5. No mods to speak of except for the cap on the bed. Totaled it on the way to go camping and attend a MTB race on a notorious exit off the interstate. Insurance company paid me 21K. It had 80K miles on it. Couldn't justify buying anything else but another Taco. Paid 32K form my 2015 TRD Sport 4x4. Hope to drive it til the wheels fall off.
