Looking at putting some 315 70 r17s on my 2nd gen. A deal just showed up on some tires, however I haven't done the cab mount chop yet.

Right now the truck has a 3inch fox extended travel coilover lift with uniball ucas, 17 x 9 methods with a 0 offset. I'm just barely clearing 285/70/17s right now.

I'm obviously going to need to do the cmc, but my question is can I get the tires on now and still drive safely to my place until I get the time to chop the cab mount? I don't want to miss out on this tire deal.

    CMC or CMR

what could shred and be more to worry about is pinch weld (there is hammer flat mod), steel bumper edge if present, flares, etc

a factor besides width is offset

and the pinch weld mod is kinda cheaper easier than CMC or CMR
Maybe you can try CMC first (cheaper)
Or go straight to CMR - not sure

Sounds similar to my setup. I still have rubbing with my cam adjusters adjusted all the way forward and alignment done with SPCs. Mine only rubs when flexed and turning. I did need 3/4" spacers to clear the SPCs though. I also trimmed 3" off my fenders.

Can you get home without a CMC? probably, will it rub like crazy when turning, yes.
