Back again: I've found a 2008 TRD Sport DCLB with 140,000 miles for 20k. Seems pretty good. California truck and was in south before that. 2 owners: current one purchased truck from a retired marine and they have all the records. It has been well maintained every 5,000 miles they say.

Below are the pics (many of em) of the frame and engine she sent. I'm seeing no real rust issues, EXCEPT on the Bilstein shocks. What do folks think? I think I've found a decent one in my budget. (The market is unreal right now).

    Thanks all.

Here in the rust belt, that's a 2-year-old truck. Looks awesome!

Do you really want to risk your life?

If not, don’t buy a vehicle with rust. Cause it’ll only get worse.

Yeah: it’s why I’ve moved my search outta my area in Wisconsin. I would think the small amount in just those few places would be reasonable. Though maybe I’m saying that because it’s so hard to find one right now.

So you would wait it out till a fully rust free one popped along?

thanks again for the 2 cents

Def agreed. I’m hoping to get them down 2k. Then it would be worth the flight out.

I personally would. Rust is just a ticking timebomb. And that’s usually just the rust you can see.

That truck looks nice but I would try to get the price down some. Me personally I wouldn't pay $20k for it.

Well, there's a lot less rust than on others you posted. With 140k on the clock, you'll want to replace the shocks anyway. The only rust that really jumps out at me is on the exhaust. My 2005's exhaust is still clean metal. Those headlamps should be replaced too. Back to rust.... anything you buy, even brand new, will rust if your roads are salted. Figure that truck you posted might have a 2-3 year headstart on rusting. It's still a 2008 and I'd be very hesitant to pay 20K for it.

I may have finally found a non-rusty (well nearly so) 2011 DCLB with topper with 103,000 for 24k. Little expensive and miles seem a little low. 1 owner with all maintenance records.

    These look good, no?

Rust, or lack there of, looks great. 1 owner and full maintenance records are good too. I am sure you noticed the cracked plastic engine cover. Nothing to worry about, but I'd be curious as to how it got cracked. I'm guessing someone stepped on it when it was pulled off.

So my 2010 dclb prerunner sr5 sport had 100,000 miles and got totalled this past June. It was on mint condition with zero rust as I’m in Texas. The insurance company gave me $21k…. So this latest one you found isn’t too far off. Maybe $22k since there’s some rust.
