I wouldn't bid on a salvage vehicle if I can't physically inspect it. You are going by one rear damage pic to guestimate what repairs are needed. This could become a repair nightmare fast. Let's put this way, I wouldn't even buy that truck completely fixed for 26K($10k bid + 16K repair) knowing it has a salvage title.

We got a 2011 bmw x3 for 16k of auction and cost us right at 20k total after repair and paint job! It's salvaged and the auction had like 15k estimate to repair now I can flip it for cash sell it for 30k

Well, if you want to bid on it, then do it!!! The guys here are giving you sound advice. Sounds like you are just :stirthepot: and not seriously looking for advice.

    ACV: $32,469 USD

    Repair Cost: $16,720 USD
Title State/Type: TX SALVAGE VEHICLE TITLE
    Odometer: 4,593 ACTUAL
    Primary Damage: REAR END
    Secondary Damage:

Just saw the ad... so you want to pay $30 for a damaged vehicle and then have to pay the repair costs. That truck is sold "as is". Anything over $8K or $9K is too much.

Looking at the pic. The wheel does not look like it sticks out do to being hit. It really looks like the bed was hit in the left rear corner. Which pushed the bed over, which gives the appearence of the wheel sticking out. I would think that there is frame damage past the legal safety specs that ins companys have to go by. So that they just wrote it off. I thinks its a doable thing. I do not think your going to fix it for 2K (even doing it yourself) I think doing it yourself still going to be around 5K to 6K. I would not bid no more than 10K to 12K.

12K + 6K = 18K maybe good or not. I just do not know what resale would be on this veh with a salvaged title. Now if you are going to drive it and dont care about reasle then just enjoy it.

IMHO, first be honest with yourself and determine what your budget is. Just as important, a monthly payment you can afford. Then let members offer advise on how to get there.

It's been my experience, as short as its been, everyone here is trying to help. We all see this as a accident waiting to happen...again. There are plenty of option out there for you. Just ask...

In the mean time; DON'T WALK...RUN FROM THIS ONE!!! :)

No it's not. He asked for opinions and got them. Didn't like what he was told and started another thread.

You obviously have never dealt with selling a salvaged vehicle. $30K may be the KBB for a clean '11 BMW x3 but there is no way you will get anywhere near that with a salvaged title unless the buyer is named Stevie Wonder. You sound like you will pursue that Tacoma anyways regardless of what others say here. Good luck with your decision.

    Wondering...

    1. Was the hit not great enough to push the airbags? OR..
a.) do the airbags not go off if the car is not turned on
b.) did they possibly fix that

I personally don't buy salvage. For whatever reason the insurance company listed it as such BUT... know that years ago, some were an automatic salvage title if there was airbag deployment.

10 percent of the retail price is $3200, so add the $3200 to the $32000 it went for originally. Bid $35,200. You don't want to lose it. Jump on this, it's a steal.

This is just as bad of an idea as it was when you posted it in a different thread earlier today.

If you buy it at least do one thing: don't post on issues you are experiencing or bitch about it we told you not to buy it! Second of all don't get mad when it Costa more than you think since you seem to think it is worth its weight in gold
