The asking price was $28,900 and I got it for $26,000 plus tax. I always buy slightly used....

Nice Truck! It looks familiar. I tried to find a used one but nothing I found seemed worth the price considering a new one was just a bit more? but I probably would've got that one.
    Cheers

He's in So Cal, so probably 8.75%-9.75% depending upon county.

Wow, if California is truly like this on their vehicle taxes I wouldn't want to live there. In WA state the amount financed after a trade in deduction is the amount taxed. If I trade in my car and a dealer gave me $10k for it and the purchase price of the new car is $19k I am only taxed for $9k since that is the actual amount I am paying the dealer. Californians really do get it in both ends if they get double taxed considering they were probably taxed on the trade in when they bought it.

I would assume "dealer fees" is referring to various charges ranging from doc fees to advertising costs, etc.

YEP that's what I thought. People don't realize dealers are marking these trucks $6000 PLUS over ACV trade prices. I picked mine up for $4000 less than asking and I did not get what I would consider a great deal.....Trade in was likely around or a little less than $18,000

Seems to me all who bought used got a huge discount from the ridiculous "asking" prices they throw on these trucks.VERY nice truck and deal.. $5000 discount from new is reasonable and a HUGE savings.........Congrats

The stealership told me the same story, 500 above cost on anything they have. Not sure if I want to see if I can get them under and get a new one now, or wait for the 2012's to come out and get one then.

Read a lot of good posts here. I can't say anything that hasn't already been said, but I will say x2 use USAA. I'm in the military and they are awesome, every new car I've ever bought I've walked in with an outstanding deal from a totally different dealer quoted from USAA, used that as a bargaining tool, and walked away better. Hell, guy in my squadron bought his wife a Volvo using what he could get it for while deployed....from the local dealer. They want to sell. Last but not least, the dealership's "financial" guy is selling stuff too, so treat him accordingly. That extended warranty can be had for like $100 or less, depending on the time of the year. I bought my wifes car, and they just gave it too me, they needed to meet a quote of warranty's sold and it was mid-December.

Yes. It was confusing in the beginning when I actually thought I could get a 2011 4x4 DC TRD Sport for 30k OTD in CA. It would help if ppl actually specify if it is a 4x4, 4x2, what package/mod, etc.
