Yup been there too... the Tacoma is the silly putty of trucks IMO. You can do what ya want... just wish they would shave a little off MSRP for that :notsure:

Kings, 275/70/17, a few custom items, lots of Meso mods.
I'm one who goes way overboard and did everything with dynamat extreme and dynaliner. Doors are both inner and outer skin.

Currently in the middle of doing mine, used noico sound deadening and thermal insulation. So far two doors down and haven't gone threw half the box off each. Doesn't really have a picture of the soundening as the foam goes over and haven't really taken any pictures of the process.IMG_20200408_141111.jpg

I'll let you know how it goes. I'm gathering up the courage. Need it to be a warm day for starters, and I want to replace the front tweeters while I'm at it since I will have the trim panels off, so budgeting for those too. Spend spend spend... oh well, there's a Pandemic you know.

Does this help a lot with the rear road noise - or maybe even the accursed diff howl?

I wouldn't say "a lot". Perhaps I should've gone up the firewall and I'd be happier. I feel like I still have tire and engine noise and perhaps it's coming from the front of the cab. Or maybe my expectations were higher because of the difference I got with the doors. It does help some but I noticed a bigger difference in just doing the doors. But yes there is a little less noise coming from the rear of the truck. Particularly I noticed the exhaust sound is less.

Do the hood. I'm doing my hood as well. Already installed sound deadener, and going to be using this next. https://www.designengineering.com/black-under-hood-thermal-acoustic-liner/ Got this from partsengine.ca because :canada: I'm using a sound meter app for android to see what kind of results I get, currently sitting at 53 db at idle, max of 76 db at startup. I'm going to measure again after the hood is complete, I'm hoping for a decent reduction.

Did my front doors a couple weeks ago. Will be doing the back doors and back wall next week when more dead we comes in. I used 18’ of Noico on the front doors doing the inner and outer skins. Two full sheets inside each door. Cut them into quarters and go over the bracing, over lapping the edges. Once you take the first door panel off, you will realize how easy it is. For the sail panel, remove the white clips from to door and put them back on the sail panel before reinstalling.

I recently did the front and rear doors, the rear firewall, and the roof in Noico dynamat equivalent and Noico adhesive foam sheets. Massive improvement for nearly $0. Pretty shameful the car did not come this way from the factory.

Headliner was a little finicky to drop, but not too hard. Frankly the hardest part(3/10) was feeding the sheets of Noico dynamat inside the door skin to adhere them to the outer layer of metal. Plus side is that the doors sound like they belong in a bank now.

Thanks to the lockdown, I had time to finish working on mine.

80mil 36sqft Deadener for all 4 doors and the rear wall, and another 36sqft for the floor and headliner.
170mil 36sqft CCF for doors and rear wall
315mil 20sqft CCF for headliner and front flooring
150mil 10sqft CCF for remainder of the floor.
    DSC_2169-01.jpg DSC_2170-01.jpg IMG_20191028_134922_749-01.jpg DSC_2891-01.jpg DSC_2892-01.jpg DSC_2903-01.jpg 1585814650140-01.jpg DSC_2911-01.jpg

    Started Sunday, finished yesterday.
Couldn't figure out how to get the headliner out of the truck...
If I had a helper, maybe it could have been done.
Working around the headliner is tiresome and annoying.

Planning on adding MLV to the rear floor and wall, and the doors.
I think 40sqft should be enough.

Any professional sound installer that isnt ripping you off will tell you the truth, sound deadening only really needs 50% coverage on doors or panels max. Anything more and it's being wasted

Logically, I know that’s true from everything I’ve read, BUT I still couldn’t convince myself. So I put another $15 into the front doors. :notsure:
