I was just wondering how much it would cost to paint a double cab (4 door). I'm talking a quality paint job for the entire truck including inside the door seals and under the hood.

    I'm located in Tucson, AZ...:tumbleweed:

I would go to 3 of the nicest shops you have in Tucson and get quotes... I have a feeling you will get many varying answers here..

Someone may try to talk you into Rhino lining the entire thing.

    Welcome and good luck.

    Paint it with what?

I'll cover it in primer for you for 20 bucks. You buy the primer.

Ok, 20 bucks, you buy the primer, and I'll park my truck next to yours when I'm done so you can make sure it isn't still Speedway Blue. You drive a hard bargain sir.

If you are painting your truck purely on color choice (not because it is damaged or some other reason), your best bet may be to sell your truck and get the color you want.

If you have ever seen a vehicle that has been completely repainted, it looks repainted. It will never have that factory painted look again...

3+ grand easy. To completely change the color right takes a LOT of prep work. You gotta pull off all the doors, the bed, all the door seals on the body, door handles, dew wipes, antenna, grille, lights, bumpers, and rear window. Thats not even getting into the engine compartment. Materials alone with a quality base-clear paint are gonna run upwards of a $1000, depending on color. As far as quality goes its all in the prep work, me and my father have repainted a few Mustangs I've had that all turned out like glass because of attention to detail, and countless hours of prepping. Don't be surprised if you get some crazy quotes, the shops make more money putting a door and fender on a Honda insurance job than they will painting your truck.

Especially if you are worried about the cost - a cheap paint job will look like a cheap paint job.

people do complete color changes all the time - i've seen HUGE trucks with spectacular paint work, ie duallies on airbags, etc. it is not that big of a deal for a shop, as long as they get paid soundly to do such work. it just takes a while and most production shops would rather bang out 20 insurance jobs in the time that it would take to do your custom color change.

it will be expensive if done right, that's for sure. ball park, i'd say at least 6k, but probably approaching 7.

when you say under the hood, you mean the bay too?

    .

Earl Schieb at maybe $400.00 (paints everything on body with el-cheapo paint) ... up to $5,000 (or more) for a good prepped job at a good shop ... all the way up to maybe $10,000 (or more) for custom paint at a top shop.

If I was having a complete color swap including engine bay I wouldn't expect to pay much less than 8k. I would think 10k would be somewhat close. My friend paid 16k to have his Impala painted with some body work.
