How much water can you drive through with a snorkel?

Hey guys, so a little bit of backstory I'm planning on building my Tacoma up now that I'm out of college. I want to lift my truck by 6.5" with a maxtrac spindle lift and going with 35s (for looks).
I don't plan on doing a lot of off-roading as I only have a 2wd taco, maybe some easy trails, and going to the beach but nothing serious. However, flooding is a real concern for the area I live in during hurricane season.

So that being said how much water would I be able to drive through if I got a snorkel? I was wondering if there were any other things I should look into into? e.g. differential breather mods. Any advice on driving through deep water would be appreciated as well. Also not that it matters much but I'm still curious, do y'all think snorkels look cool or do they look dumb?

Safely, the same amount as before.

Unsafely, the same amount as before.

I mean I wouldn’t recommend seeking out driving through water in which you don’t know the depth or terrain underneath it. You’re just gambling. Generally speaking I don’t go through anything past the height of my tire.

And though the snorkel will help move your air source out of your wheel well to above your roof line it’s primary function is actually for dust and dirt rather than water. Yes it will help partially with what you want but there are also far more things you need to consider if you plan on going through high/deep water. Diff breather is one of them. I’d be more concerned with accidentally submerging your electrical systems. Bad things can happen.

Also a side note for driving through water. If you are deep enough to where your exhaust pipe is partially or fully submerged don’t turn your truck off.

Take note of where the alternator is at also. It's a low point for mine.

Cool story here. I drove through deep ass water during Irma. I have a ‘14 Tacoma with 40k miles on it. I went to my moms house in fannett and the water was high as fuck. I parked on the road 200 yards from the house. My truck got wet and I called insurance to ask. They totaled my truck and gave me $30k for a 6 year old truck at the time. I have 40k miles on it now and bought it for $9k

Wouldn't go any deeper than the bottom of your door unless you remove all carpeting beforehand.....

As deep as you want. But only once.

Jokes aside, I won't go much deeper than the top 1/3rd of the tires. My snorkel is primarily for cooler, cleaner air. I will avoid water when possible. That said, I have temporarily gone headlights deep but I knew the front end was going to be coming back up before the depth of the water would be an issue.

Fording can be done but you've really got to be built for it.

As others have said before, the same amount as without a snorkel. Snorkels on people are for water. Snorkels on trucks are for dirt and dust
