how much weight can safely fit in my bed

A little late to the party, but I just hauled a load of crushed granite in the bed of mine. I didn't bother to check what the actual capacity was beforehand. I've got the scalehouse slip - 1.13T in the BED. 60MPH at times over the 40 mile trip. Last week was an 8,000# /trailer , again, 50-55 speed limit was easily attainable. Engineers and their ratings - pfft

 

I do half-yards only of gravel, sand, screenings, dirt, etc. but will do a full yard of mulch or compost.

 

I've run many loads like this, not sure what it weighs but it's "about a quarter yard." Half a small loader scoop. The nose rides pretty high and it's pretty swervy but handles it. :-D Even without a truck box, I'd do it in two trips.

 

FYI if you simply look in your door jamb your vehicle weight and pay load capacity is right there.
