Yeah! That’s some great advice. I just dipped my twos into the taco pool last year so I’m confident with plug and play things now, not so much suspension work etc. from what I can tell though, all my UCA LCA and shocks and things look identical, dude that back into me must’ve been going slow and had a truck that was high enough to hit my headlight jusy right. I’m just surprised it still works.

The bumper can be repaired, but its not going to look good. The rip in it will need to be plastic welded together, then using flexible bondo to smooth out the repaired area. But like I said in another comment, the factory bumpers are textured, so you will end up with a textured bumper with a giant smooth spot.

Bumpers are made of Polypropylene, once it is formed into a shape, it will stay in the shape until hit. Heating it up and pushing it out will get it back to its original shape again. So dents are generally not a problem on them.

If your wondering, I went to school for autobody and spent a number of years working in one of the top body shops in my state.

So what I’m surmising from your comment is jsut to best get a new one since they’re fairly affordable, get it painted, then replace the current one opposed to keeping what I have now?

Yes, this will get you good results. If you find something in there thats broken just replace it before you continue.

The main place your going to be looking is where the bumper cover meets the fender. There is a clip that bolts to the fender that sometimes breaks. If its broken or deformed then the bumper will never actually clip in there and it will stick out.

You don't carry collision coverage on your insurance? Cheeper than buying all those expensive plastic parts anymore.

That's a good time to get an aftermarket bumper especially if you do the install yourself.

Is it though? most aftermarket bumpers require the area under the headlight to be good and cut off everything below that. His bumper is broken in the area that the aftermarket bumper requires to be intact. Sure he could buy those precut parts that fit there, but they are pretty much the same price as a new OEM bumper is.

Found that out the hard way with a scratch in mine. I asked for a repair since it was in the shop for an unrelated issue and they told me that the labor to block out the whole bumper to make it match was unrealistic for what the damage was.

Ahhhhh, so you ended up getting a lower bumper too?

No. I'm a perfectionist and had a scratch only I could see. I've since damaged the other side (again, super super minor but my perfectionism streak is hurting me) and if I were to repair it, I'd grab a new bumper and go from there. For the cost of a bumper it makes sense to just replace it.

Yeah fortunately they are a two piece and that bottom piece is pretty cheap. After this I might ride around with it being black textured for a while.

Take it in and get it fixed the right way. Claim it on INS, it's a 2021. It's going to be 2K, or more.
