There's a lot there to say "wow, that's definitely not something to do", but for those of us who are completely new to offroading or who ever consider emergency towing, it would be greatly appreciated for the experienced folk to say "here's the video, now here's what the right steps should have been". For instance, everyone talks about hilifts, but I'm still completely dumbfounded on how they work. It sounds like a device that requires lots of aftermarket body upgrades (to give you a jacking point), plus my head instantly thinks jack + mud = nice hole and not jack + mud = truck goes up.

I'm staying with steep, short hills and trusty gravity; or nice unlevel MOSTLY DRY land (I'm a scaredy puss :)). If I can get with my uncle and his trackhoe, I might experiment on his muddy farm.

By the way, for all of you who've been to Brown's Camp, WTF is up with all the 'easy' trails being blocked off for bikers, or so incredibly easy I could fall asleep if it wasn't 200 feet of trail? :(

Avoid pulling that thing from the side. Common sense really. Use factory tow points, drop hitch or the axle(solid) to pull on. Bring a shovel and dig. Watch out for straps coming loose, breaking and whatnot. Go slow.
