I hear you. It is 6 years old and paid for. Still looks great. My carwash must just be special! With a name like GEAUX CLEAN, I could not resist.
Even if it did/does have swirls, I would not care. It is a 6 year old truck that does everything that I need it to.
If I was worried about swirls, I would hand wash it. Glad that I am not.

I do admire all you hand washers, 2 bucket, ph balanced detergents, etc...
You are doing a great job! Keep up the good work!
I just like driving through the wash with my kids and then letting them vaccuum.

The magic answer is: Not more often than you wash the wife's. LOL

Hers gets washed about every 2-3 weeks. Mine gets washed every 4-6 weeks. All hand washes with the full monty two bucket etc.

I will never bring my personal vehicle into a carwash... Handwash only.

My truck is ceramic coated, so about once a month to refresh the original coating. Still going strong since 2017

I hand wash/pressure wash in my driveway but also use the Self Serve Carwash. I never use the brush (scratch maximizer) at carwash and always use clean microfiber towels to buff the truck clean.
My Silver 00 Tacoma still looks good after 21 years and my White 2019 Tacoma is looking good too. Both are easy colors to keep clean/looking good. Silver/Greys are the way to go if you want low maintenance
I've got a newer Black Accord and when it's clean it looks awesome but I'll never buy another Black car/truck. Every imperfection, scratch, rock chip, fingerprint shows.

Here in North East Ohio, during the winter months I take it through the car wash (touchless, of course) every weekend, mostly to clean the undercarriage.
During the rest of the year I usually hand wash it myself about every two weeks.

Dealer told me i'd never need to wash and wax my truck again after they ceramic glass coated it.....so i don't, most i do is hose mud, or salt spray off it.

IMO, washing often is good for the paint. It removes acids from road dirt both on top and below. You have to “touch” the paint to remove stuck on mud, bird poop, and oily road grime. The clear coat is strong and can handle it. There are times when mine goes through an automatic car wash daily for weeks. Especially in winter weather. The car wash has spinning micro fiber brushes and not those weed eater hard plastic ones. My black paint is 12 years old and looks darn close to new. There’s no phantom swirl marks. The soaps lubricate the brushes as they do the job. Car wash soaps have moisturizers like carnauba wax. Don’t ever use dish washing soap.

I think the one thing that keeps my truck paint looking newish is keeping it out of the hot sun. And my truck is black. I have parked it in a garage at home it’s entire life. I’m blessed with underground parking at work. Sun ruins paint more than washing by far. One drive on an Arizona/New Mexico/southern Utah city and you’ll see a much higher percentage of cars with damaged paint.

I take it to the carwash once a month whether it needs it or not, mostly to get the interior wiped down nd vacuumed out. The truck sits outside in the driveway everyday pelted by dirt, birdshit, rain and the remnants of three hurricanes. It didn't hurt the paint on the 1st gen, it's won't hurt the paint on the 3rd gen either.

    1st and 3rd gen.jpg

I'm not worried about swirlmarks, that's why I buy tan colored trucks.
