Your idea that because the wires are spliced to the remote start makes it easier to steel is wrong in my opinion. First off the thief now has no idea what is done that he has to bypass. Mine for example has a relay hooked up to the immobilizer wires it could be any wear including built into the brain. The thief now has to figure that out and bypass it. Good luck. He also has to bypass the immobilizer wireless unless he has a key. My wires are all double taped into the bundle making it again hard to find them.

If I was a thief I would take the known wiring of a stock Tacoma over alarm starter any day.

At -20c today I was out of the parking lot 10min before most of my co-workers because my windows were clear and truck was warm. Its totally worth it or millions of people wouldn't have one. Why don't you post about something positive instead of bashing stuff you don't want.

I would love to get this for my truck! Any cons to getting a remote start?

A few mods here and there and counting....
No cons. I love warming up the truck in the cold or when I'm in Tahoe during the winter season. Don't listen to ones who have no experience of ever owning such a convenient commodity. I have the Viper 5902 and start my truck up every morning for work.

I'm getting a nice $500 bonus check soon and thinking of using it to do some mods. Remote start was topping the list, although this Indian summer were having isnt helping. Can't decide between a remote, satoshi grill, new tires, stock stereo with aux input....

Many people like to have their vehicle warmed when they get in. Or, Cooled down, in the case out here. If you dont like it, you dont have to have it in your truck.

I have the Clifford 5901 i think... I use it often. The bummer with mine is that sometimes when It is really cold and I try to start it, it does not crank over long enough to start the truck.. Its bummer.

Really? Mine if it doesnt crack it retries again one more time and if it doesn't crank again then it cancels the start up. But its rare for mine to not turn over all the way...
You can adjust the amount of seconds the alarm cranks the engine (not sure how do)

Yes you are correct, mine will to.. but when it is very cold out it will not start... I Think it needs to be hooked up to a (i think its called bitwriter machine) inorder to change the cranking time..

There are two ways of hooking up these starters the one way is cranking time but the better way is with the tack wire. If you use the tack wire you start the truck and hit the learn button on the module. After that the truck is supposed to crank until the module sees a normal tack signal. Sometimes they hook up the tack but forget to program the module for it. Not sure what you problem is you could use a meter and look for an ac voltage on tack pin at module. or ask your installer.

The programming does not require a bit writer. find the install diagram, it has the programing instructions. There is a master file on any bit torrent site that has all of the install manuals. The file is called DEI Viper Python Guides Plus TechTips 5-27-09 if that doesn't work go to www.the12volt.com
